Just Passing the Time...

The other day, I wasn't feeling to great about how I looked, I had no make-up on, a bit of a cold, and was watching the VMA's. Afterwards I decided I needed cheering up, so headed in the direction of my make-up and had a little play around. After not doing that for ages, it was a lot of fun. The look I created was slightly inspired by all the lovely ladies at the VMA's, and I thought why not dedicate a post to it.

The look I was going for was, a shimmery eye with thick liner and a bold lip. The products I used were:

Base:
Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation ^
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer ^
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder

Eyes:
Brows: Rimmel Glam Eyes Trio in Orio (Dark brown colour)
Stila Natural Eyes Palette: Kitten//Champagne//Sunset
Loreal Super Liner
Maybelline the Falsies Mascara ^
MAC Powersurge

Face:
Hoola Bronzer
MAC Dainty Blush
MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle

Lips:
Bourjois Lip Pencil in 20 Rouge
Rimmel Berry Queen Lipstick

Well I succeeded in feeling better for the whole ten minutes I wore the make-up before washing it off and putting a face mask on....

I really love the eye make-up though, and think I may wear it the next time I go out, but I may have found a different style by then as I'm rather fickle.

Am I the only one who does things like this? What do you think?

Laura xoxo

^ don't really like the product/wouldn't recommend, but thought I may as well use them save wasting the products I love.

Celebrity Inspired: Zooey Deschanel

When I find myself sitting on my laptop, which to be honest is quite regularly, I really hate sitting in silence, so I turn to Youtube. If nothing new has been uploaded, I go onto my 'Favourite Beauty Video's' list and just let that play in the background (am I sad that I have such a playlist?) Anyway, a lot of videos in that playlist consist of Tanya Burr, and one of the videos is this one, of her recreation of Zoeey Deschanel as Jess from the show New Girl. So me, being me, decided to re-create it myself, and here is how  it turned out:

The products I used were:

Base:
YSL Touche Eclat Foundation ( I don't personally like it.)
Collection 2000 Concealer
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer

Eye:
Sleek Brow Kit in Light
Stila Naturals Palette: Bare//Kitten//Bliss
Loreal Super Liner
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
Gosh Eyeliner in 015 Natural

Cheeks:
Benefit Hoola Bronzer & Watts Up
The Balm Cabana Boy

Lips:
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm in Honey

And whilst googling the gorgeous Zooey, I found this picture:

And decided to have a shot myself:

Anyway.....

What do you think of Zooey, yes or no? Do you watch New Girl?
I watched it, but still don't know if I like it ha! Also, check out Shen's post of a whole, hair, make-up & style post for Zooey!

Celebrity Inspired: Ashley Benson

'Cause I find myself with little else to do, I was having a little re-blogging sesh on the old Tumblr, and came across this gorgeous photo of Ashley Benson. I am a huge Pretty Little Liars fan and loved the make-up she was sporting in this picture.

Her look is quite natural, except for the detail around the eye, and a nice flushed cheek. I wore this out the day I did this make-up, and really liked it! Something different

Base:
Estee Lauder Invisible Fludi Foundation
I just used this 'cause I want to use the sample I got up, I really don't get on with this product to be honest, but my good friend Shen does, so check out her review here!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer
Rimmel Match Perfection Highlighting Concealer
Loreal True Match Powder

Eyes:
MAC Omega - Brows
MAC Naked Lunch - Crease
Front Cover Baked Bronze, with a slight bit of Frosted Almond in the Crease
Loreal Super Liner
MAC Powersurge
Max Factor High Definition Mascara

Face:
Benefit Hoola
MAC Frankly Scarlett

Lips:

What do you think of Ashley's look? Are you a Pretty Little Liars Fan?

Fashion Friday: Copy Cat

I think this is going to be the last Copy Cat post for a while. As much as I've enjoyed doing them, there is something as too much. I'll probably do them again though, just in case you care haha!

Anyway, for a final post I thought why not go all out. One fashion I love and covet that celebrities wear is red carpet fashion! Oh how I wish I was rich and famous. Sadly I am not. But I do have access to the Net-a-Porter website and my imagination to create some red carpet looks.

Look One:

Look Two (A back up):

So never in a million years will I be wearing/buying these, but hey a girl can dream.

Do you have an idea of what you would wear if you reached ultimate stardom?

Happy Friday :)

Fashion Friday: Copy Cat

It seems that if you are a celebrity in LA, denim shorts are a staple item. It is a look that I love, and if there is a bit of sunshine here in rainy blightly, I always try to give my shorts a bit of love. When looking for pictures of celebrities for this post, I was expecting lots of trainers, shorts ant Tees but was shown, yet again shown how versatile shorts are for both everyday casual and more glamorous.

For the looks I've put together I've decided to do two looks, with the same pair of shorts.

Doing this post has made me realise numerous things. Not only re-instating the versatility of the denim short, but also, that I'm slightly obsessed with Topshop, and I reaaalllly  want a pair of white converse!

What do you think of this trend?

Laura xoxo

After writing this post I found this picture on my Tumblr, I think it was a sign:

Fashion Friday: Copy Cat

It appears that the latest trend is now pastel/coloured jeans. I personally love them, but don't think I would be able to do them justice, so again I am ogling from afar! I think they look so lovely in the hot weather, and I love the so many different ways that people wear them, so again I've found some celebrity inspiration and made my own outfit!

I'm super tempted by these ASOS wedges, I think they are just gorgoues, and they don't look too high, and because of the platform they shouldn't hurt too much! But sadly they are £45, which is just too much for me I'm afraid!

I thought I'd end this post with a few bloggers who look gorgeous in Pastel Jeans:

What do you think of this trend?

Fashion Friday: Copy Cat

This weeks post is bought to you by Maxi Dresses! I love Maxi dresses, I think their extremely cute and feminine, but I have just not found one that suits me. I always stare jealousy at people as the swan effortlessly by wearing them, especially in the warm weather!

Again I am drawing inspiration form some celebrities, as we all know celebs do it best, right?

And in Blue Peter-esque fashion, here is an outfit I made earlier:

I love the colour of this Maxi dress, and love that it could be dressed up or down. I went for the down version and think it would be perfect for a day shopping!

What do you think of the Maxi dress trend? Yay or nay?

Laura xoxo

Happy Friday :)

Let's go back...

...to the start.
Now that I've finished uni for the summer (sorry for those of you that haven't) I've had a lot of free time on my hands, so what have I been doing? Watching YouTube videos, more precisely Tanya Burr YouTube videos. I love all of her make-up tutorials, I think they are some of the best on YouTube, and I always have a soft spot for them, as they are what introduced me to the world of make-up, YouTube and blogging.

Whilst browsing through, I found this video, a Bella Swan wedding make-up tutorial, and realised it was the first ever YouTube video I watched. The day after watching it, I headed to Superdrug and purchased my Beauty UK palette (in 4, in case you were wondering) and set about trying to re-create the look, I didn't succeed very well if I'm honest.

But my make-up skills have grown a lot since then, and after watching that video again, I decided to have another stab at it, but place my own twist on it too, to work with the sunny weather we are having, and this is what happened.

Base:
Loreal True Match Mineral Foundation
Rimmel Perfect Match Highlighting Concealer - Under Eyes
Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer - Blemishes

Eyes:
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly - Primer
MAC Naked Lunch - All Over Lid
MAC Omega - Crease
Stila Convertible Eye Pencil in Lapis
No.17 Shadow in Darkness
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
Sleek Brow Kit - Light (not pictured)

Face:
Bourjois Bronzer
MAC Dainty
MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle

Lips:
Stila Lipstick in Arieal(not pictured, sorry)

It's also shows how far I've come by the amount of High End products in that list, when I started blogging back in January I owned none.

I used a combination of my Stila Convertible Colour and No.17 Darkness shadow on both of my lash lines to mimic the same style as Tanya's Print and Carbon. For cheeks I tried to add some colour with bronzer, and a tiny sweep of blush.

What got you into make-up?

Laura xoxo

Fashion Friday: Copy Cat

Now, I wouldn't call myself fashionable. I'm still learning what works for my shape and size and how to fit in with the latest trend. I usually don't get in to a trend until it's over, but that's ok with me. I do however enjoy fashion, reading magazines, reading blogs and seeing what's new. My main inspiration, as shallow as it seems, stems from celebrities. From this I've decided to start a 'copy cat' series, which is basically a celebrity inspired post.

For my first post, I was inspired by the picture Shenae Grimes posted on her blog of a gorgeous black and white outfit. I've also found other celebrities who have rocked that style.

I've also put together an outfit that if money and figure permitting I could get/wear, but alas no.

I did try to take a picture of myself wearing a similar look, but I am no fashion blogger, I either looked seriously moody, or just didn't get my all body in the shot. So luckily for you, a post without my mug on it!

What do you think of this look?

Laura xoxo

If you follow me on twitter then you will have seen me just post about how I've been without internet since my last post went live, hence why I haven't been able to respond to comments etc. But I am back now, thanks to a lovely Virgin Media man who has just sorted it all out, yay!

I'm back with another Celebrity Inspired look, this time from Kylie Jenner's OK! photo shoot. I randomly found this and loved her look, so thought I'd have an attempt at it. Especially being a bit of a Kardashian fan, (major jealousy at the bloggers who got to meet her!)

Celebrity Inspired - Taylor Swift

I absolutely love Taylor Swift, I think her music is great and she handles herself so well. I was reading some blogs, as you do, and saw a picture of her at the ACM Awards, and fell in love with her make-up so I decided to do my own version for today's Celebrity Inspired look!

This looks is all about the bronze smokey golden eye, and neutral face. This week I've decided to do a step-by-step guide to the eyes and would love to know if you find it useful:

1) I used Front Cover's Baked Bronze all across the lid with a No.7 Colour Brush.

2) I then used a models own angled brush and ran it underneath my lower lash line.

3) I then used Toasted Almond by Front Cover, first with a Japonesque crease brush in the crease (surprise, surprise!) then blended slightly with a No.17 blending brush.

4) Then with my Loreal Super Liner, I lined my upper lash line

5) I then used a Real Techniques detailer brush with Maybelline's On and on Bronze Color Tattoo under the  lower lash line, and into the tear duct area.

I then finished with Mascara and a neutral eyeliner! If you want the full Taylor look, add some awesome falsies too!

Base
Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam - Review
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer - Belmishes
Soap and Glory Trick and Treatment Concealer - Under Eye
Loreal True Match Powder

Eyes
Front Cover - Baked Bronze and Frosted Almond - Review

Maybelline - One by One Mascara
Gosh 015 Eyeliner
Loreal Super Liner

Face
Bourjouis Bronzer
No.7 Honey Blusher - Review

Lips
No.17 High Shine Lipgloss - Whisper

So I hope you liked this look. What do you think of Taylor's look?

Also Happy St. George's day to all that celebrate!

Laura xoxo

P.s I've joined another blog hop, and you can join here!

*I just feel like I need to mention, I am not a MUA, I just like messing around, and the ideas were just inspired by Taylor's look, but I would love to know what you think :)

Celebrity Inspired - Carrie Bradshaw

A couple of weeks ago I was babysitting my lovely little cousins, and at around Midnight I was desperate to find any decent tele to watch. Lo and behold I found a classic, the wonderful SJP and friends in Sex and the City. How can you not like this program? It's as the name suggests with shopping, writing and lots of shoes, lots of shoes!!! I think we all sort of think we're Carrie Bradshaw when typing posts don't we? Just me? Anyway I've digressed, I was mesmerized by Carrie's natural make-up look and decided to recreate it.

I think the episode this comes from is Series 3 ep 13! It's when Carrie, Mirranda, and Samantha go to LA. I love Carrie's neutral look so much, effortlessly gorgeous!

Celebrity Inspired - Jennifer Lawrence

Hope you all had a lovely Easter and are enjoying the Bank Holiday !!!

I'm back with another Celebrity Inspired look which I've wanted to do ever since I watched The Hunger Games a couple of weeks ago as I've developed a slight girl crush on Jennifer Lawrence. I think she handles herself so well in interviews, comes across as such a down to earth person and played such a good Katniss. So with all that combined, and the fact she was the inspiration behind my new fringe, I decided to try to re-create her look from the London Hunger Game premier.

For this look she has a very smokey, golden eye, with a nude lip and very little on her cheeks.

Base:
Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam - RT buffing brush
Soap & Glory Trick and Treatment Concealer - Under eye

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder - Sigma F20

Celebrity Inspired - Olivia Palermo

I see a theme appearing in my Celebrity Inspired posts, a lot of TV! Now I never really watched The City, I loved The Hills, and loved Whitney, but just never followed her to the East Coast. However this celebrity inspired look is from Olivia Palermo, most commonly known from The City, Olivia has made a name for herself all on her own, mainly for her exceptional taste in Fashion.

Olivia always wears a dark eye with light cheeks and lips. She very rarely moves away from this look, and I can see why, as it suits her so well.

Celebrity Inspired

Hairbands at the ready ladies as this week my inspiration has come from the gorgeous Leighton Meester, as Blair Waldorf. I love Gossip Girl, well up until this series, where it's just annoying me now, anyway Blair is by far my favourite character. She nails the gorgeous and feminine high class attitude her character requires, and she always looks stunning.

Blair always wears such natural and subtle make-up, making this a perfect everyday look. She always has dark eyes, yet barely there mascara, flushed cheeks and a slight colour to her lips.

Make Up:

Base:
Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam - Real Techniques Buffing Brush
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
Soap&Glory Trick and Treatment Concealer - under eyes
Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer - not pictured- on blemishes

Eyes:
Front Cover Baked Bronze - on the lid and under the lower lash line
Beauty UK Palette 4 - as shown
No.7 Lash Adapt Mascara - only on upper lashes

Face:
Collection 2000 Mosiac Glow - contour
Topshop Head Over Heels Blush - not pictured (Sorry for my forgetfulness!)
Sleek Contour Palette - Highlight only

Lips:
Rimmel Kate lipstick 05
Rimmel Lipstick - 550 Lovesick

I hope you like this look. Are you a Blair Waldorf or Gossip Girl fan?

Laura xoxo

Also I have to include this picture as it made me chuckle:
