Colours of the Rainbow

When I was younger I wanted a pair of shoes in every colour so they would go with any outfit I wanted, and now it appears I'm doing the same with lipsticks. I have such a variety of different shades of red, peach and coral, but in this post I thought I'd chose my favourites and make a little colour of the rainbow (sort of) post for you.

Starting with the nude my favourite has to be Nude Delight from the Rimmel Moisture Renew range which pops up a couple of times in this post as I just love those darn lipsticks. This is the perfect peach nude colour that compliments any make-up look. Next along is a pink from the Rimmel Kate Moss Matte lipsticks in 101 a nice bright pink colour, should you need it. The final peachy nude is from YSL in 13, I love this as it's moisturising and not too over the top, just a nice complimentary lip colour.

For a more everyday colour I love this Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in Rose Sorbet. Fun fact this was my graduation day lipstick as it's the nicest your lips but pinker colour. For a darker pink I like to use my MAC lipstick in Cosmo as it's long lasting and nice and deep but not too OTT.

Finally for dark red lips I've got the in yo' face MAC Ruby Woo which is matte and long lasting or the more comfortable to wear but darker wine-esque colour from Rimmel in Berry Queen.

Do you enjoy having different colours for different occasions?

Friday Focus: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks

Over the last couple of years I've gained quite the lipstick collection, but in terms of formula I haven't found one I like as much as the Rimmel Moisture Renew ones. In terms of colour collection in the range, I think you can pretty much find any shade you want. Obviously there isn't as many as you'd find in MAC, but I think there is definitely a colour for everyone there.

The colour's I have here are Nude Delight, Coral Crush, Berry Queen, Coral Queen, Mayfair Red My Lady and Rose Sorbet. I've just written them without them being in front of me, so I'm sorry if they're slightly wrong.

What's great about these lipsticks is that they apply opaque, however they have such a moisturising quality to them that you'd expect them to be sheer. If you suffer from dry lips or want a lipstick that feels like a balm on your lips, then these are definitely worth looking into.

They've recently been reformulated and I only have one from the new range, Mayfair Red My Lady, but from what I can tell, they've only gotten better. Whilst I find this shade doesn't really suit me, it's more moisturising and more opaque than the others.

If you haven't looked into this range, I really hope this post inspires you to. (Not sponsored, just think they're great!)

Have you tried any? What do you think?

Spring Fling: Lips

The final instalment in my Spring Fling trilogy is ending with lips. I love me some good lip products and these are what I intend to be using over the next few months.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipgloss in Glorious Grapefruit - This is a gorgeous lipgloss that has a hint of tint to it that means your lips look shiny with some nice colour to it, but not too OTT. It also means you can eat a good old 99 without having it smeared around your face (can't say the same for the ice cream though!)

Rimmel Appocalips in Stellar - If you want to make a statement this Spring, this is your guy. Perfectly pigmented, and fully opaque this gloss/lipstick hybrid really packs a punch on your lips. Application can be a little tricky, and it can end up on your teeth if you're not careful, but bold lip lovers, this is the one for you.

Bourjois ColourBurst in Red Sunrise - I love a good lip crayon and this Bourjois on in Red Sunrise just screams Spring to me. It's on the red side of coral which means it's great transitional colour from Winter to Spring. I used it in my Spring tutorial on Tuesday.

Rimmel Kate Lipstick in 110 - If you're looking for a coral colour that's going to stick around all day, look no further. Due to it's matte texture it stays put for a rather long time, perfect for BBQ season. The colour is the perfect colour and I love bring this out in the Spring.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire in Rose Melody - My favourite lip product of the moment. The same consistency as the Rimmel Appocalips, but a bit more moisturising on the lips. This nude colour is perfect all year round, but the slight orange tinge to it means it looks great with a bronze look, meaning perfect for Spring.

What are your spring lip choices?

Top Five Summer Lip Products

I'm turning into a right lip junkie at the moment. Can't get enough of the stuff. That being said, I still don't reapply throughout the day (baby steps.) Here are my picks that I think will see me through the summer. They all look different in the tube, but are all pretty much in the same colour family. C'est la vie.

First up is Revlon's Suede Effect lipstick in It Girl. This is the perfect shade if you want a nice peachy colour that's going to stay put on your lips.

Next up, Bourjois version of the chubby stick (who doesn't have their own version now?) This colour boost in Orange Punch has SPF in it (perfect for summer) and is easy to apply. Normally I stay away from 'orange' toned lip products, but I love this colour. It definitely has a red/coral undertone.

Another Bourjois lippie next, this time their answer to the Revlon Lip Butters, but in my opinion, better! I love this shade in 20, it is pretty much identical to the colour boost, but the finish leans toward a more glossy feel, lasts a teensy bit longer, and is much more shiny.

A matte lip choice has got to be this one from the Kate Moss Rimmel range in 110. The perfect coral in my opinion. It also has similarities to Firecracker appocalips, which nearly made it to this post, but matte won overall.

Finally, one that on the lips, doesn't have much colour pay off, but made it to this post due to the SPF quality and moisturising feel; the No7 BB Lips in Coral Rush.

What are your favourtie summer lip products?

Rimmel Lipsticks

I noticed that I seem to have accumulated many Rimmel lipsticks. How, and why, I'm not too sure. I think it stemmed from when I didn't have any lipsticks, then noticed that Rimmel's Lasting Finish collection was a good price and had a wide variety. I then ventured into their other lines, Mositure Shine, Pink Collection and the Kate Moss collection. Now I seem to be getting a little bit of a lipstick obsession, and I thought I'd show you all the Rimmel Lipsticks I've collected.

First up, I want to show you the first lipstick I got, Asia.

This is a gorgeous nude brown/pinky colour. I really like this for daytime, it's slightly darker than a natural lip, but I think it looks really gorgeous. It also looks really great for a night out with a nice clear gloss on top.

Next is a colour that I featured in a recent FOTD, Firecracker.

This is such a lovely corally red colour. If I don't want to wear it too bright, then I just dab it on with my fingers and it gives my lips I nice pop of colour without being too in your face. I will definitely be wearing more of this in the summer.

Heartbreaker, the next colour, was one I bought when I wanted a deep colour, but was too scared by red.

This lipstick comes off as a very deep pink with an almost red finish, but not quite enough to be a full red lip. I wore it on a night a few months ago and my friend ended up loving it too and she went out and bought it and always wears it when we go out. It really is a good night time lipstick.

The colour Berry Queen is very similar to that off Heartbreaker,

however it is slightly darker, and in the bullet it does look like it has slight purple undertones. This is from the moisture renew collection, and is quite moisturising to the lips, not as good as No.17 though. Again, I think this is a really lovely evening colour.

Tantrum is another quite dark reddish colour, however it has come out quite pink in the photo.

However it is actually the most red out of the colours and has a slight orange under tone. The hand swatch is more true to the actual colour for some reason. I use this as my 'red' lipstick as I'm still too scared to buy a proper red lipstick, I just don't think I could pull it off.

I bought this next colour for my Lucy Hale inspired look and it's called Sugarplum.

This is a very light pink colour. It looked like it had purple undertones in the bullet which is what drew me too it, but it actually comes off as a medium pink colour.

Finally the last two colours, Kate 05 and Pink Excess are ones that I reach for daily.

This is a lovely pink with an almost red hint to it (again the hand swatch is the most true to colour) and I think it looks lovely on days wear you want more attention on your lips than just a natural colour.

I really love this lipstick and it is probably my favourite, however my one downside is that it has a slight rough feeling? It doesn't look rough or apply badly, it just feels slightly rough. It is a gorgeous nude pink with a slight brown undertone, and is the your lips but better look, I really like it.

These lipsticks don't have the longest staying power, but that doesn't bother me. I am the type of the person who puts my lipstick on in the morning and then just apply vaseline or carmex during the day.

I hope this has been helpful and a look into a few of the many colours that Rimmel do. They tend to be around the £4-£6 mark and can be picked up from most places, Boots, Superdrug and Supermarkets.

Do you wear Rimmel lipsticks? What is your all time favourite lipstick?
