Friday Fact

When towel-drying your hair, squeeze it, instead of rubbing it!

Rubbing a towel over your hair to dry it causes the ends to split, which results in frizzier. By squeezing out the excess water instead it prevents the damage and results in hair being more manageable and smoother.

Happy Friday!

Crazy for: Crayons

I don't know why, but lately, if I see something in crayon form, I want it. I'm very much drawn in to the aesthetics of products, I'm not going to lie, and there is just something about a product that could double up as a colouring tool that makes me swoon slightly. I've never been very good at art or anything involving creativity, so maybe this is why I have such an obsession?

Eyes wise, I've got three. Two are from Rimmel, and the Beige coloured one, is pretty poop if I must say so. It doesn't blend very well and looks a bit meh, but this bronze one is amazing. The staying power is just fab, and I love the colour. This taupey Topshop one is so pretty, and creamy too. It blends perfectly, but can crease a little so bear that in mind.

Lips, obviously I had to get a Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm stain. I think I would've been kicked out of the beauty bloggers club if I hadn't. I choose the most natural one, Honey, but I really like how it looks on the lips, simple and nautral. When I saw the No.7 ones (thanks Lucy!) I thought I'd end up with a nude one too, but they all swatched a bit, well, bleh, but this red one is perfect. So shiny and glossy and lovely.

Do own any crayon make-up products? What are your favourites?

Review: A few thing from Origins

If you saw my March favourites (yes, 'saw' did you know I do YouTube now? Have I mentioned it much?) then you will have seen these two products before. Today I thought I'd give them both a little review. I'm no skincare expert, but these are my thoughts on them, 'cause I really rate them.

Dr Weil Mega Mushroom Skin Relief: I use this as a toner, so straight after cleansing I cover a cotton pad in it and smooth it over my face. I then like to leave it a minute or two so it sinks in, and it leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth. I find it really hydrating, and it really soothes my skin. I had a reaction to a product the other week, and this totally helped in sorting it out.

Clean Energy Gentle Cleansing Oil: I use this to take off my make-up, and it does it so well. You put on your face (when it's dry) work it all in, which feels so lovely, and then add water to turn it into a milky substance. Then take a warm flannel cloth and all your make-up will be gone. It's so gentle I can use it on my eyes too. Highly recommend if your looking for a new make-up removing cleanser.

Have you tried these?

Friday Fact

I'm so glad people seem to like this feature. I'm aware that they are more tips than facts, but I'm a sucker for alliteration. Something had to come out of my English degree right? Anyway, today's fact.

Heat up your eyelash curler.

I remember reading this in a magazine years ago. Apparently by warming your eyelash curler by using a hairdryer or hot water (I recommend the first) it allows the curl it gives your lashes to hold for longer. Perfect.

Happy Friday!

Throwback Thursday: Maybelline Dream Touch Blush

The other week I was having a little sort through of my collection and came across this little guy. I've had it for so long that the writing has worn off and I don't even know the name of it. But alas, I thought I'd see why I've held onto it for so long.

When heavily swatched it leans toward a brown toned pink, but when blended out it goes toward the more peachier side of life. Either is fine with me to be honest.

On my cheeks, it kind of mimics the natural rosy redness that I have myself. I like to apply it with my fingers and blend it out with a RT's Contour Brush.

I have found it is very easy to over do this product, so a light hand is a must, but overall I can see why I held onto it. A gorgeous pink blush, that doesn't break the bank.

Have you tried this?

FOTD: Subtle Bronze

Today I thought I'd share with you the make-up I wore out to dinner on Friday night. Now I had done a whole nice dark bronze smokey eye, but something I'd use had given me a bit of an allergic reaction so I washed it all off, and used some lighter products to let my skin breather, but I still wanted a bronze eye, so did this.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation
Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer

MAC Brun/Omega - Brows
Maybelline Color Tatto - On and On Bronze
Urban Decay N2 - Suspect // Blackout
Powersurge Khol
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

NARS Multiple in South Beach

Rimmel Lipgloss in Be Famous

Video: So, I'm Weird!

I may have filmed this when I was rather sleepy, couldn't be bothered to put much make-up on, and had an idea just come to me that I wanted to film. Another reason I'm weird?

What are your weird attributes? (I thought of loads more of mine. Who knows, there may even be a part two of this video at some point...)

What I Wore this Week

Another week over, and not trying to jump the gun or anything, but it looks like Spring is trying to make an appearance. Shhh, don't scare it. Uni started again this week which is depressing, but I've now only got three weeks left which is rather quite scary.

Friday Fact

So, I haven't really done a Fashion Friday post in a while, mainly because I'm kind of at a loss as of what to do for them, and I'm not very good at it. So whilst I'm not binning the idea for good, on the Fridays where I should post, I'm now going to do a 'Friday Fact' along the lines of beauty/fashion that I've picked up from my blog reading, YouTube watching, and magazine drooling days. Now that that's cleared up, lets get on with the fact.

Take your eye make up first!

This is because if you clean your face first, then take off your eye make up, the grime from your eye make up will then fall down onto your clean face, meaning you'll have to clean your face first.

What do you think of the new feature?

Video: Get Ready With Me

Today's video is a 'Get Ready With Me' one. I absolutely love watching these, so when I got ready to go to friends house party last week I decided to film one myself. However now I'm a bit anxious about uploading it, is it it interesting for you to watch me get ready? I don't know. I'd also planned to do narration over the top but my laptop doesn't want to play nice so I'm hoping this is ok instead. Anyway enough rambling and excuses.

New video; enjoy:

Crazy for Colour

For the longest time, I’ve always been an eyeshadow girl. I have a collection that contains many a variation of nudes/browns and golds. Lips, however, have never really interested me. I think it’s ‘cause I have a fear of lipstick teeth or the lovely lipstick line, but recently, things have been a changing. I’ve ditched the coloured eyes for something simplistic, and loving a nice new lipstick.
In today’s post I thought I’d share with you the ones I’ve been loving. ‘Cause I’m nice like that.

First up, this new guy from No7. I never knew these existed until I saw Lucy’s blog post. I love lip crayons, or anything crayons really. I’m a child like that. These are basically Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm stains, which were basically Clinique Chubby Sticks, but better. I’ve never tried Clinique, but I prefer this to my trust Revlon. Why? I hear you ask. Well because these little guys are super moisturising. Think lip butter moisturising. A slight bit of pigmentation is compromised, but not enough to cause concern. I also love that I get a bold lip, but don’t worry about unattractive staining, and I don’t need a mirror to apply. Win.

Rimmel Appocalips have made quite a storm recently. I have three, and I love one of them, like one of them, and I’m on the fence of the other. The one I love is this one in Stellar. It’s the perfect coral leaning toward red colour. It is super duper pigmented, leaves a nice finish, and looks, well, nice. Application is tricky, and you can end up with lipstick everywhere, not just on your teeth, but I think this one is worth persevering with.

This is another new kid in school purchase, the new Revlon Suede finish lipsticks. I bought Trensetter, which is a nice pink going into red colour. It gives a great colour pay off and a lovely matte finish which I love the look of, but hate the feel off. It lasts really well, one of the reasons I got it is because of the way the swatch would not wash off of my hand.

I’ve already blogged about this recently, but I love this No7 lipstick in Mulberry. It’s just lovely. Check out this post for a full review.

Last, but not least we have a Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick. I love the formulation of these lipsticks, they really are moisturising. This colour in Coral Queen is just perfect for summer, and will keep your lips nice and hydrated too.

So this is my craze at the moment. What are your lips loving at the moment?

Review: Revlon 3D Volume Photo Ready Mascara

Wow, that’s along title for mascara isn’t it? C’mon Revlon, something a bit easier next time please? So I purchased this after seeing Adrienne mention it in a tweet and I was in Boots, and you can guess the rest.

It’s quite a big mascara, and breaks the usual round mould and is square, which is annoying for me as it takes up a lot of space, but it’s nothing too serious.

The wand reminds me of the They’re Real mascara, I don’t know why, and it’s been a while since I tried that so I may be wrong. It has bristles all down the side (I can never tell the difference between plastic or not, so I have no clue) and also at the end, I’m guessing so that they can get those ‘hard to reach’ lashes.

When I first used it I was quite disappointed. Yes my lashes look ok, but not sounding big headed, my lashes are alright on their own. However, I preserved and now I really like using it.

What I’ve found is it gives a really nice ‘everyday natural’ look. The bristles really work well at separating my lashes instead of clumping them together. I didn’t realise at the time but I picked up blackened brown instead of black, so maybe that aids the ‘natural’ look.

Overall, this is a nice mascara, slightly pricey at I think £10.99, but I would recommend if you already have nice lashes you want to enhance. I probably won’t by this again, but if I do, I’ll be sure to let you know.
Have you tried this? What do you think?

Throwback Thursday: No7 Mulberry Lipstick

I got this little guy for Christmas and used it quite a lot of the time, and just like normal, I got something new and cast it aside.

I'm a bit unsure of how to describe this lipstick. A deep pink maybe?

This lipstick is super duper pigmented. That is just one swatch up there. Impressive no?

To me this colour is that perfect, just above a natural lip. It has some zush, but not too OTT.

What do you think of this colour?

Video: How to get ready; Fast!

Just thought I'd let you all know that I uploaded a new video earlier. I'm sure you're thrilled with this information and are begging me to explain what it's about. Well fear not. This video is kind of me experimenting with different styles of videos, it is far from perfect, like most of my videos, and like usual is just a bit of fun really. It is focused around those mornings where you hit snooze that few too many times and need to be ready 5 minutes ago.

Hope you enjoy.

How do you get ready fast?
