Fiction Friday: Books I've Read This Month

Last week I headed down to Devon with my family for a lovely week of R&R. Whilst I was away I managed to get through a few books and thought I'd share them with.

Before We Met - Now I had started reading this book before I went away, and to be honest I just couldn't get into it. I found it quite slow to take off and the story line quite easy to guess (I guessed it at least.) The story follows the life of a woman called Hannah and her marriage to a man named Mark. I would say it probably falls under the thriller category, but it just didn't hook me like others.

Anna and the French Kiss - For this book I went back to the good old young adult classic. It was a really easy read and I devoured it in one afternoon. Anna is sent to boarding school in Paris and the story follows her life whilst she's living there. Expect love and friendships and a nice feel good book.

Sleep Tight - This book was definitely my favourite of the lot I read. Again I raced through it in an afternoon as I had to know what happened. It had the same kind of suspense of 'Before I Go To Sleep'. It follows the story of a woman called Olivia alongside many other characters, who I'm lead to believe also carry on in other books. Now this book left me gasping and excited from all the twists and turns and I definitely did not guess what had happened. A very good read.

What have you read this month?

Crazy for Colour

For the longest time, I’ve always been an eyeshadow girl. I have a collection that contains many a variation of nudes/browns and golds. Lips, however, have never really interested me. I think it’s ‘cause I have a fear of lipstick teeth or the lovely lipstick line, but recently, things have been a changing. I’ve ditched the coloured eyes for something simplistic, and loving a nice new lipstick.
In today’s post I thought I’d share with you the ones I’ve been loving. ‘Cause I’m nice like that.

First up, this new guy from No7. I never knew these existed until I saw Lucy’s blog post. I love lip crayons, or anything crayons really. I’m a child like that. These are basically Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm stains, which were basically Clinique Chubby Sticks, but better. I’ve never tried Clinique, but I prefer this to my trust Revlon. Why? I hear you ask. Well because these little guys are super moisturising. Think lip butter moisturising. A slight bit of pigmentation is compromised, but not enough to cause concern. I also love that I get a bold lip, but don’t worry about unattractive staining, and I don’t need a mirror to apply. Win.

Rimmel Appocalips have made quite a storm recently. I have three, and I love one of them, like one of them, and I’m on the fence of the other. The one I love is this one in Stellar. It’s the perfect coral leaning toward red colour. It is super duper pigmented, leaves a nice finish, and looks, well, nice. Application is tricky, and you can end up with lipstick everywhere, not just on your teeth, but I think this one is worth persevering with.

This is another new kid in school purchase, the new Revlon Suede finish lipsticks. I bought Trensetter, which is a nice pink going into red colour. It gives a great colour pay off and a lovely matte finish which I love the look of, but hate the feel off. It lasts really well, one of the reasons I got it is because of the way the swatch would not wash off of my hand.

I’ve already blogged about this recently, but I love this No7 lipstick in Mulberry. It’s just lovely. Check out this post for a full review.

Last, but not least we have a Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick. I love the formulation of these lipsticks, they really are moisturising. This colour in Coral Queen is just perfect for summer, and will keep your lips nice and hydrated too.

So this is my craze at the moment. What are your lips loving at the moment?
