Recipe: Oreo Cupcakes

If you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen these bad boys. In case you hadn't noticed I haven't been as frequent posting lately (the joy of full time work eh) and have also been forgoing the make-up for sleep. Therefore I've decided every so often I'll be throwing in a random blog post here and there and I'm starting with these cupcakes.

Knowing how to make cupcakes is the only thing I've remembered from Food Education at school. I've adapted the recipe and this is the result.

Ingredients:
100g Self Raising Flour
100g Caster Sugar
100g Butter
30g Cocoa Powder
1 egg
Oreos

Icing
Icing Sugar
140g Butter
Cocoa Powder

Oven temp: 200oc

Add the flour, butter, sugar, cocoa powder and egg into a mixing bowl and mix it all together with a whisk (electric is much quicker).

Once you're done it should look a little something like this.

(sorry the picture won't rotate!) Place your paper cupcake holders into a baking tray and place an Oreo on the bottom of each.

Then spoon your mixture on top of each Oreo.

It's then time to put them in the oven for about ten minutes.

Whilst they're in the oven it's time to make the icing.

Break six Oreo's in half for the decoration.

Then take the butter and use the whisk to make it all creamy.

Then bit by bit add icing sugar and cocoa powder until it's the correct consistency.

It should look something like this when it's done.

Then spoon the icing onto the cupcakes, add the Oreo decoration and you're done.

Now go and enjoy it.

Will you be making these?

Friday Fact

Wait for smudged mascara to dry before you try to remove it.

Whilst it's tempting to want to get rid of a smudge straight away, it'll move away quicker once it has dried.

Happy Friday!

Throwback Thursday: Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

This is my 'special occasion' foundation. Due to its price and the fact a Laura Mercier counter is quite far from me (thankfully for my bank balance!)

It's good coverage, has no spf (perfect for cameras) and with the right primer/powder lasts a long time too.

Whilst it is expensive, a little goes a long way and I find applying it with a damp sponge is the best!

Do you like this?

Top Three: Lips for Winter

There's nothing quite like a change in season to inspire a swap of make-up right? Whilst Autumn calls for berry's and purples Winter is all about the red in my opinion.

Rimmel Moisture Renew in Berry Queen: The only berry in this list, and a pretty good dupe to my MAC Dobunet. The formula is nice and moisturising (go figure) and looks lovely on the lips.

MAC Ruby Woo: I have the lovely Shen to thank for this being in my collection. She sent it to me and I really like it. I think it works best with some Blistex underneath and is the perfect bright red colour.

Loreal Colour Riche in 401 : If red scares you a bit then go for this. The formula makes it very sheer and easy to apply, perfect if a bold lip scares you. If you want to make it bolder add a red lip liner underneath.

Review: Origins Brightening Set

Ok, so I caved and got another Origins set. This time it was the Brightening set. I love Origins Ginzing moisturiser, and when I saw this set for £30 (the price of that alone) I thought I'd pick it up.

First up, the mascara. Left is with, right is without. I do really like this mascara. I wouldn't call it brightening however, but it does lengthen my lashes and make them look nice and big. I would say that it's a bit clumpy though so you have to be careful.

Secondly the eye shadow. You know me, I love a good cream eyeshadow and this doesn't disappoint. It reminds me of Stila Kitten in cream shadow form but it's really nice. It also works well as a cream highlighter!

As for the moisturisers, there will be reviews on my blog somewhere. But for short, I love them both!

Are any Origins sets calling your name?

Review: REN Clarifying Toning Lotion

When it comes to skincare, REN is a close second to Origins, and after hearing Caroline Hirrons giving the seal of approval to this product I knew I had to try it.

I'd tried that Clarins Exfoliating toner and whilst I liked it, knew I had to give this a try before coming to a conclusion.

The smell of this lotion is not as nice as the Clarins, but it every other category, it beats it hands down.

I feel this is more gentle than the Clarins one, as well as being cheaper. I also noticed a bigger difference to my skin too after trying this one as well.

It's easy to use, doesn't sting and leaves my skin clearer and fresher. What more could you want?

What do you think?

FOTD: The 4 Product Face

Sleep has completely and totally won out over make-up! I just really can't be bothered in the morning and make-up just isn't my priority anymore (skincare on the other hand...)
Therefore I now present to you, the four product face!

So, what am I wearing I hear you ask? For base, I take my Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch under my eyes and taking it quite down my face in a V shape. I then have to fill in my brows, although their quite full I have to fill in the fronts where the sparseness is, an for that I use an Avon Glimmestick. Mascara I used here is the Origins GinZing and depending on how dry my lips are I either use some sort of lip product (here is No7 BB Lips) or other days I use a light dusting of powder.

I also have to say, my skin clearing up, thanks to the products in yesterday's post, has made a big contribution to this minimal make-up.

What's the minimum products you use?

Review: Origins Make A Difference Set

Last year I bought a set from Origins, as each year they bring out Christmas sets, and it pretty much cemented my love for the brand. Whilst browsing a couple of weeks ago I spotted that the sets were out again and picked up this one, Make a Difference +!

I would go into detail and review each product, but I've been using them all together and can't pin-point what each one does individually. What I can say is that this has made a MASSIVE difference on my skin.
I have oily/dehydrated skin, and this gives me plenty of moisture whilst also fighting the blemishes I have.
I would say that the serum is a bit irrelevant as I feel the treatment is good enough without it.
My skin has improved that much that I'm using a lot less make-up, more on that tomorrow.

The set is £40, which is steep, but the treatment itself is worth over £30 itself!

Seriously impressed, and fallen even deeper in to the Origins skincare whole.

Do you have any of these? What do you think?

Hey guys (?) hope you're all ok. I just wanted to put a little note at the end of this post explaining why you may not be seeing many comments fro me lately. Basically I can only really comment when I come on my laptop, which I rarely do except to upload videos/posts and the rest of the time I use my bloglovin' app to keep up to date with blogs, which doesn't let you comment. I get so many lovely comments and realised the other day I'm not commenting back. So basically, I just wanted to say, I'm still reading your posts, just unable to comment.

Have a lovely week!
