Top Five Summer Lip Products

I'm turning into a right lip junkie at the moment. Can't get enough of the stuff. That being said, I still don't reapply throughout the day (baby steps.) Here are my picks that I think will see me through the summer. They all look different in the tube, but are all pretty much in the same colour family. C'est la vie.

First up is Revlon's Suede Effect lipstick in It Girl. This is the perfect shade if you want a nice peachy colour that's going to stay put on your lips.

Next up, Bourjois version of the chubby stick (who doesn't have their own version now?) This colour boost in Orange Punch has SPF in it (perfect for summer) and is easy to apply. Normally I stay away from 'orange' toned lip products, but I love this colour. It definitely has a red/coral undertone.

Another Bourjois lippie next, this time their answer to the Revlon Lip Butters, but in my opinion, better! I love this shade in 20, it is pretty much identical to the colour boost, but the finish leans toward a more glossy feel, lasts a teensy bit longer, and is much more shiny.

A matte lip choice has got to be this one from the Kate Moss Rimmel range in 110. The perfect coral in my opinion. It also has similarities to Firecracker appocalips, which nearly made it to this post, but matte won overall.

Finally, one that on the lips, doesn't have much colour pay off, but made it to this post due to the SPF quality and moisturising feel; the No7 BB Lips in Coral Rush.

What are your favourtie summer lip products?

Review: Nars Duo in Madrague

If anyone tells me how the heck you say this, I will be more than grateful! Anyway, I was kindly bought this for my birthday by my best friends (they let me choose bless them!) and today I'm sharing it with you.

This is very much a nude duo. No shimmer, pure matte and pure subtle colours. Something I thought would be perfect for travelling as I love a good subtle eye for day to day. (I don't travel that much though, but ah well.)

The quality of these products are what you would expect from Nars. The pick up and blend extremely well, and last the usual amount of time on my oily eyes. Obviously longer if I prime. I would say though, I have quite dark, almost orange eyes, which mean colours tend to go more orange toned on me if I don't even them out first.

For me this duo ticks all the boxes, subtle, easy to use and compact.

What do you think?

Throwback Thursday: Dior Amber Diamond

Can we all take a moment and go 'ahhh!' I love this product. I think it really is my most prized make-up item. It is just so beautiful; and for that reason, I save it for special occasions.

Look at that bronzed golden goodness. It really is so complementary to the eye.

It really captures the light so well, and works really well with any sort of bronzing product you've used to.
Just the most adored product really.

I'll stop drooling now.

What do you think?

Stila Natural Eyes: One Palette - Three Looks

Remember this time last year when everyone and their wife was banging on about this palette? Well it was with good reason, as the palette is gorgeous; and I'm bringing it back for this post.

There is so many gorgeous colours in this palette and I thought I'd show you three different 'smokey eye' looks that I like to create from this palette.

Look One: The Neutral Smokey Eye

I started by blending Kitten all over my lid. I then placed Bliss in the crease with a bit of Sandstone in the outer corner. For a bit of lash definition I ran and smudged some Damsel into my upper lash line and outer corner of my lower lash line.

Look Two: The Bronze Smokey Eye

For this look, I took Sunset all over my lid then place Gilded Gold in the outer corner, crease and lower lash line. I then took Bliss to blend the crease colour to my brow bone. To define my lashes I added some Ebony and ran Damsel onto my waterline.

Look Three: The Dark Smokey Eye

I started with Luster along my upper lash line, and up to my crease. Across the rest of my lid I added some Sandstone and blended the crease and brow bone with Bliss. I then Luster underneath my eye, and placed Damsel on my lower water line. For a bit more definition I added Ebony onto my upper lash line.

Do you have this palette? What looks do you create?

New In: Bourjois Lip Products

I'm a Boots girl through and through. Something about their advantage card system keeps me faithful, but when I heard about the Bourjois Colour Boost lipsticks, and couldn't find them in any Boots stores, I strayed, and found myself in Superdrug. (Sorry Boots.)

I ended up going for the colour Orange Punch as it just seemed very 'me.' I usually stay away from anything 'orange' as I don't feel it suits me. However, this is defintely more coral. Whilst looking through the colours, this Shine lipstick in 20 pratically begged me to take it home. So I did.

I then found out, it was practically the same!!

First up, the product I went in for. This colour boost in Orange Punch. I'm a really sucker for these crayon type products, and this one has not disappointed. It applies like a dream, and gives a really good colour payoff. What I love about it is the fact it contains SPF which is perfect for the summer months.

Ok, so this colour really is the same as above, so why did I get it? Because it's amazing. I actually prefer this to the Revlon Lip Butters. It is the same packaging and same moisturising feel, but it has an amazing glossy finish and much more pigmented. Plus, how cool is the packaging? I don't know if this range is new, I've never seen it before, but I also never really look at Bourjois lipsticks, but boy am I glad I did!

Have you tried these? What do you think?

Friday Fact

Exfoliate before you fake tan.

I'm no fake tan expert, but I do dabble in the stuff from time to time. What I've noticed makes a massive difference is a good exfoliation beforehand. This is because the exfoliater removes all the dead skin cells leaving soft smooth skin for you to apply the fake stuff too.

Happy Friday :)

Throwback Thursday: Benefit Hoola

Ah, one of the most hyped bronzers out there, bar Laguna obviously. Benefit's Hoola has a definite cult status here in the beauty community, and for good reason.

This is the perfect summer bronzer colour which really adds depth and golden bronze look to the skin.I retired it for the winter, but now it's summer it's back with vengeance.

Whilst it does have the slight orange tinge most bronzers have, this one doesn't make you look like you're mom was a carrot.

I really do love this bronzer and can't wait to start wearing it more in the summer.

What do you think of this product?

Bronzing Brushes

Tis the season to bring out bronzer, and I thought I'd share with you my favourite tools for the job!

For the Heavy Handed : The RT Duo Fibre Face Brush. We've all been there (too many times) where we over apply and end up looking like we've rolled in wotsits; but not anymore. No matter how much your cake onto the brush, only a fine layer will make it to your face. Whether it be contouring or full on bronzing, this brush will be your best friend.

For the all over Bronze: The Sigma F20. To be honest, any large brush will do this job, but this one is my fave. Sweep it in the product, then sweep it all over the face in the usual spots. Simple really.

For the Precision Piece: The RT Multi Task Brush. If you want to be more precise with your bronzing, maybe more contouring, then this brush is your guy. It fits the hollow of my cheek perfectly, whilst still blending to give a bronzed glow.

What are your favourite bronzing brushes?

Review: Bourjois Powders

Healthy 'radiance' powders seem to be the latest craze at the moment, and I'm not going to lie to you but if there was an hourglass stand near me, and I hadn't heard the rumours of Chanle le beiges breaking people out, I probably would've bought them. Instead I've picked to drugstore offerings, both from Bourjois, and thought I'd share them with you today.

As you can see, neither of them look 'cakey' like some powders do, but they make my skin look more polished and finished.

Top is healthy balance and the bottom is the mineral powder.

Overall the mineral powder leans toward being that bit more cakey, but there is little in them. I would say that colour wise, healthy balance wins, as does longevity, but there isn't much wrong with the mineral radiance one.

What do you think of radiance powders?

Friday Fact

Don't pull your eye when applying liner!

Pulling at your eye when applying eyeliner means that your eye will be out of shape and when you let go, your shape won't be the way you want it!

Happy Friday :)

Throwback Thursday: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey

I'm sure you've all seen plenty of reviews on these balm stains. They took the beauty world by storm for being the first 'dupe' of the beloved Clinique Chubby sticks; however now you can't turn a corner without some sort of crayon calling for attention.

As usual, I used this loads when I first got this and then it got left behind when something newer and shinier came along; but it really is a gem of a product. Easy application, good lasting time and quite moisturising too.

Colour-wise, Honey is the perfect everyday, your lips but better colour.

Do you have this? What do you think?
