In each picture, the small picture is just moisturiser, and the large is just the foundation, no powder or concealer.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
This foundation had so much hype built up about it and when I first used it, I was rather disappointed. However after using it more and more, I do actually quite like it. It does give a nice coverage along with a nice glow. It doesn't last very long on me though which is a shame, as I have grown to like it, and am saving it for days were I want a healthy glow, but know I don't need it to last.

Estee Lauder - Double Wear Light
I have such a love hate relationship with this foundation. Colour match, perfect, longevity, perfect, coverage, great, but I'm left slightly underwhelmed. It does give a nice coverage, but it feels slightly heavy and tacky with it. I found it to go darker/separate on certain areas on my face, which may just be my skin at the time, as that has stopped now so who knows? I wanted to love it so much, but it just doesn't live up to the price tag, which is why I think I'm slightly to harsh on it.

Rimmel -Wake Me Up
I was really impressed with this foundation when I first got it, and still really am. My only problem is that I need to get a lighter colour as this is too dark for me. I don't know why I didn't to be honest. I think it was because I wanted to try different ones, so I shall see if I ever get a tan maybe? But nothing really bad to say about this to be honest. Cheap and cheerful!

I shouldn't have taken the photos on this day as my skin was being super annoying, and it doesn't do the foundation juststice. IT isn't a heavy duty foundation. It is more for evening skin tone and covering redness. It feels really light weight and just gives my skin a little lift. It's perfect for lazy days as it's so easy to apply, and lasts around 6 hours, and just is nice to have on! I really like this, but I wouldn't wear it properly if my skin was bad.

Rimmel Match Perfection Gel Foundation
So this is one of the first foundations I bought. I got it on a whim as I didn't want to wear tinted moisturiser on a night out. It's slightly dark for me, but that's fine as I like to look tanned on nights out. Is pretty much medium to full coverage, and feels slightly heavy on your face, but I love it for nights out! I think it's really good! Maybe because it's a gel?
I haven't done a full review on it, but you can see it in all it's glory - here!
Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam
So I really didn't give this a good review first time round, and I'm still sticking with that idea. It's mainly due to the fact that it does not last. I now use this for my Celebrity Inspired looks as it does give a nice airbrushed finish and good coverage, but by the end of me taking the pictures it's already starting to fade! Maybe it's my skin, maybe it's the formula, it's just not for me I'm afraid!

So that was an overview of all my foundations. My favourites have to be the two Rimmel ones and the Loreal Mineral powder! What have I learned from this? I own more than needed, and I'm fussy as hell! I don't even know if I'm sure what I'm looking for, but I do know, although I moan, I am actually enjoying searching for one. My bank balance however, just wants me to find it now!
I also realised I have a few BB creams, so if you would like to see another post like this about them, please let me know!
How long did it take you to find your perfect foundation? Or are you still looking for this elusive item?

Really informative post Laura, thanks for the reviews and pictures :) Like you, I haven't found my perfect foundation - there are so many things to get right for HG status. The one I'm using right now is Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum and I quite like it, except that the shade I got is too dark for me :( You've made me really want to try Rimmel Wake Me Up! It looks lovely on your skin. I have the other Rimmel gel foundation and I agree it feels a little heavy on the face, but it provides super duper good coverage. Once again though, the shade I picked is a tad too dark for me. A common problem we have it seems :p
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :) I think one of the hardest thing is finding a good colour match, then it has to last, look nice and feel good too, it's such a difficult task, but I'm determined to find THE ONE haha!

This was definitely a good idea, I have about 7 foundations in rotation! The one I usually end up reverting back to is Clinique Superbalanced, but I'm dying to try Double Wear. Rimmel Wake me Up is brilliant, just sadly way too dark for me! Good luck with the search for the perfect foundation :)

I just use the Healthy Mix one, wouldn't call it perfect but until I'm super rich enough to be able to buy all these different ones, it's a good 8 or 9 / 10 :)
ReplyDeleteI did want to try the dream matte mousse when it first came out though, may have to give it a try when my current one runs out! xxxx
Haha, I think I tried that years ago but can't remember what I thought of it haha!

Have to agree about the foam foundation, I find the dispenser to be a right pain too.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the best really is it?

That was such a great post, thank you for comparing them all. I find the same with the Healthy mix one, I love it but it really doesn't last that long. I'm going to have to try the Rimmel wake me up one as I keep hearing good things about it.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you do a BB comparison!

Thank you so much :) It really doesn't which is such a shame!
DeleteYes I think I need to go and get it in the right shade haha!
Thank you, I think I will soon :)

What a great idea for a post. I have the Healthy Mix & Wake Me Up and love them both quite a lot. I am a foundation junkie (I own 17! Just counted... Holy crap!) and it's taken me a while to transition from Estee Lauder Double Wear & Revlon Colorstay (my skin is pretty terrible) to less pumps of much lighter coverage foundations. I now experiment with application tools (sponges and brushes) to get a nice finish and spend a lot of time concealing and blending.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the essay. d: x
Thank you :) Wow, 17!!!!! I really like applying with a Stippling and blending/buffing with the RT Buffing Brush, I've found that works best :)
DeleteNo problem, I like them, shows you properly read my post ;)

I think the Rimmel Wake up actually looks great. I already use Lasting finish by Rimmel and I haven't had too many problems with it either but sometimes it can be a bit heavy on the face and I don't really need a lot of foundation so I might try wake me up next time!

Great post Laura! I think Rimmer Wake Me up and Estee Lauder looks best on you. I higly recommend Revlon Color Stay. It has a great coverage, great staying power and it's fairly easy to blend (a lot easier than Double Wear). Plus it comes in two options - for dry or oily skin.
ReplyDeleteI've got loads of foundations but when I use some up I will try Rimmel wake me up for sure :)

Thank you Sylwia, I will deffo look into it, I think I'm gonna do a drugstore splurge when I've used all of these up :) Will deffo make a note of it :)
