Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

I have seen a few reviews of this working its way around so I thought I'd give my opinion.
I must say that I had absolutely no intention of purchasing this foundation when it was first launched, it just didn't really appeal to me for some reason, however I ended up with two samples, thanks to my magazine addiction, and I thought I had nothing to loose, turns out I ended up loosing £5.98 as I loved it.

Now the magazine sample I got given was 200 Beige which kinda made me look like an oompa lumpa (attractive I know, glad I'm five ft seven, or else I may have been shipped to Cadbury World.) I used my Real Techniques Stippling brush (which I am still in love with) to apply it, and it loved it. (Alot of love/brackets going on in this review it appears.)

I found that the foundation gave a really lovely coverage and my skin looked brighter. It didn't feel heavy and it covered the few spots I had and the acne scars I have. I then ended up in Asda and saw it had £3 pound off so went and got a bottle. I bought the shade 003 True Ivory as that is the shade of my favourite evening foundation, the Rimmel True Match foundation. However when I use it I still feel that is slightly too dark for me.

It comes in a lovely glass bottle, with an orange lid and a pump, which I really like. I just place a couple pumps and the back of my hand and blend it on to my face with my brush.

Here is a picture of me with no foundation, just a freshly washed face and moisturiser:

As you can see, one side of my face is quite clear, but my chin and other cheek have a few spots/scars.

And now here is my face with just the foundation on:

As you can see just one coat of this foundation evened out my skin colour and covered my spots/scars. The lighting here is good and doesn't show the slight orangeness that is true in real life, but I am impressed by the coverage of this foundation, as it really doesn't feel heavy at all. It doesn't really have a dewy glow which I would've expected, especially as it is slightly greasy until I blend the final bits in with my fingers (I always do that so I don't have any brush lines,) which I think may be a concern if you have very oily skin.

Here is my full face of make-up:

This lasted about 6-8 hours, which is fine for me, and I quite like it when I get home in the evening and my make-up isn't as strong as it was in the morning (is that weird?)

So overall I would give this foundation a 8/10. I think I need a different colour for my skin tone (however in these pictures it looks fine, hmm.) It will probably be perfect for summer. It does have a slight greasy feel until fully blended. It gives really coverage, and I haven't suffered any breakouts from it. It is kind of what I was expecting from the Bourjois Healthy Mix.

Speaking of Healthy Mix, I really like the look I get when I mix the two foundations together:

I hope you found this review helpful, and I definitely think you should at least considering trying this foundation.

Have you tried it?  What did you think?

    1. Yeah, I don't think it would work well with oily skin, without a lot of powder :(
