Review: Dior Forever Skin Foundation

I mentioned it a post last week that I am trying to invest in some products that are going to last on me throughout the day, enter this.

Now I feel like I need to tell you the story behind this purchase before I go into the full review; I had just finished a four hour lecture (9-1) I was going into town shopping, looked in the mirror and realised whatever foundation I had used (can't remember what it was) had completely faded. So I thought, that's it, I want a good, proper foundation that will last, and this pinged into my head, and here we go. (It's amazing what just getting your student loan can do to your thinking.)

I would definitely say this foundation falls into the light - medium category, it is by no means full coverage. It does cover up my redness and few scars, but any major blemishes still need a good treating of concealer.

I like to apply this using the RT Buffing Brush, and it does give a flawless looking effect. However, it was just coming to the end of summer when I was matched, so now, I could go with going a shade down.

So this is me with full make-up on. I do like how it photographs, and how it looks in the morning, however by lunch it definitely needs a touch up. I don't know about you though, but I hate getting my powder up to touch up, I feel like I look like I try too hard? Just me?

This is how it looks towards the end of the day. Now I didn't do any touch ups, nor did I use my Urban Decay setting spray, and with the use of those, it does last longer, but honestly I expected more. So with that in mind, although it is a nice foundation, I can't justify the pennies.

Overall, it gives a decent coverage, but I maybe wouldn't recommend if you have oily or blemished skin, but it just does not live up to the 'forever' claims.

Have you tried this foundation? What do you think?

  1. I had a sample of this foundation a while ago and only ever used it for nights out, I liked it, but I agree, it does need a good primer to keep it in place :) x

  2. I find it really hard to get a really long wearing foundation as well. There's always some fading by the afternoon. I started to recently powder in the morning (something I never used to do), but I don't see myself powdering in the middle of the day in the bathroom or anything. That just seems like too much effort :p I've not tried setting sprays, but that might be something to consider. Sorry this foundation didn't fully impress you, especially in the longevity stakes. Hopefully you find something that really gives you long-lasting coverage.

    1. Yes, a good lasting foundation is so hard to find! I powder in the morning and it doesn't seem to help that much :(

  5. Nice review, I will probably not purchase this brand sometimes expensive does not mean Good. Have you tried YSL? I wear Teint Parfait Oil-Free for light coverage and it does the work however for full coverage MAC Cosmetics is the brand but I personally don´t like the heavy look.

    1. I know, expensive definitely does not always mean great!
I tried a sample of the YSL didn't like it that much, re-used my sample the other day, and am leaning more towards it!
I've heard lots of people say MAC breaks them out, so I'm hesitant to try them!

    2. I have to agree with you regarding MAC although for lipsticks, lip gloss and blush I totally rely on this brand I have to say their primers and foundations do not work on my skin at all I break out and get dry/itchy skin :( I have tried all brands out there (cheap and expensive) and stay with AVENE, VICHY, YSL or SHISEIDO.

It's a shame this one isn't totally perfect :( I'm the same with powder haha, I'd feel so silly getting out my powder and a brush halfway through the day! xxxx
