Products I Wish I Loved

As the title suggests, this post is all about those products I bought, thought I would love, had all the intention to love, but something about it, stops me loving it.  No matter how many times I go back, thinking it will be different this time, I am just reminded why we weren't right for each other the first time. Heartbreaking, but true.

Loreal Colour Infallible in Sahara Treasure: This product is meant to be a dupe of the higher end Chanel and Armarni cream shadows, but something about this does not sit right with me. It is a creamy powder texture that is easily applied to the lid. I think I would be more inclined toward it if I like a shimmery, frosty finish for my eyes, but, I've recently discovered I'm a matte girl, through and through when it comes to eyeshadow. Definitely a night out product, and I don't really go on nights out often anymore.

No 7 Lipstick in Mischief: I bought this lipstick on a whim when a set of £5 vouchers were floating around, hoping for a dupe of the Viva Nikki, however I really can not get on with the texture. It clings to dry patches and just looks chalky. At first I liked it, but the more I use it, the less I like it.

Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam: I love the first finish of this product, but after around half an hour of wear it starts to oxidise, fade, and just generally looks crap. I use it a lot in when I'm just messing about, and am always amazed at the look when it's first applied, but then after a while, I realise why I don't like it.

Me Me Me Beat the Blues: I bought this highlighter thinking it would be like Benefit High Beam, not that I know what High Beam looks like on me, but I really just can not get on with it. The brush is rather flimsy, and the bristles are twisted, and I find it just doesn't blend in well.

MAC Pearl Mate: I bought this from a blog sale as it looked amazing, but unfortunately, it is really orange on me, and I just can not find a way to use it that I like. So saddening, because it's just soo pretty.

Are there any products you wish you loved, but just don't?

  3. I DESPISE that No.7 lipstick, I have it in a different colour to you but it does exactly what you said to my lips too and generally looks vile. My sister has the same issue with one of hers too, No.7 need to sort it out. (Rant over).
Ooh that's the foundation I was amazed by when it first came out but never got round to buying, probably for the best!
That MAC product is so so pretty though, what a shame! :( xx

  9. I'm kind of with you on Sahara Treasure, though not really because it's frosty/shimmery. The colour just isn't super flattering on me, even though I really love it when I swatch it on my hand or arm. The little pots are also super fiddly which make me want to use them less. The Maybelline foundation sounds like it looks gorgeous when first worn, but that's too bad that it simply doesn't wear well or last long. We all have products we wished we liked a bit more, it's an inevitable downside of being beauty junkies :p

  14. I agree about the Sahara Treasure...I bought it because the colour looked really pretty and neutral but I never reach for it because I find it very shimmery for daytime xo

  15. that mac product looks so pretty, it's such a shame you can't work with it :( i have so many foundations where the finish is beautiful and then an hour later i look like a disaster, okay maybe that's a little extreme, but it's close!

  18. Really great post, I love the idea of it all! I actually really like the Maybelline foundation, so I was surprised to see it on this list! I do know what you mean, though, as it's definitely not a long-wear foundation. And from this post, now I know to not bother with the L'Oreal cream eyeshadow I'd been eyeing!

Aw, it may be different on you? But I wouldn't recommend personally, but I do love other Loreal products!

  23. I've actually really wanted to try the foundation and I so nearly bought the mac when they were in store. Such a shame you don't get on with them. If you're looking to try something new I have a list of products on my blog that I'm looking to do swaps on. That way you could get rid and I could try.
