Review: Soap & Glory Glow Job

Whilst I do love a good scrub or body wash, Soap and Glory make-up has never really called to me for some reason. One weekend I was reading a post by Vivianna Does Makeup (which I'm usually doing to be fair,) and saw her mention this product. From the description she gave it sounded a little like the Origins Vita-zing moisturiser so I decided to pick it up, as I'm always looking for a cheaper alternative.

The Soap and Glory Glow Job describes itself as a 'sunkissed tinted morning moisture flash'. Basically it's a moisturiser with a bronze tint to it.

When testing it out on my hand I noticed that the pigments in it where quite orange, but after a bit of blending seemed to smooth themselves out.

You can see my first impressions and application of this product in this video as this was the first time I'd used it on my face. Oh boy, did it not really go right. As I said in the video I definitely looked like I'd escaped from Wonka's chocolate factory, it was not good.

I have tried it since and definitely believe that less is more. The second time I used it underneath a foundation and think that it's definitely the way forward with this product.

If you're lucky enough to have foundations too light for you, or once summer approaches want to add a bit of tanned glow to your skin I definitely suggest giving this a go, but in the winter on your face, I'm going to have to give it a miss.

Have you tried this? What did you think?

Sun in a Bottle

I am normally a good person to play Caspers sister, I am rather pale, and as I've never really gotten on with fake tan, and can't sit still long enough in the sun to tan, I stay that way. That is all until I saw a review on Lauren's blog about this gem, Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan, and it is love.

I got it for £6.99 in a Debenhams sale, but it is normally £20, which is steep, but I think worth it.

I have had some pretty horrific nightmares with fake tan, often with me being lead back to the chocolate factory with the other Oompa Lumpas, whilst looking like I'd been stomping in a bag of Wotsits, but after many times of using this, no disasters.

I've got to say, make sure you use a mitt when applying this (sorry for the skanky state of mine, but what can you do?) When I first got it I didn't have one, so my friend helped me apply it with a kitchen sponge (strangely kind of worked) and her fingers got seriously stained (sorry Amy!)

I like to give my arms and legs a good exfoliation in my morning shower, then apply this at night. What I would say is you have to try to avoid water for around 12/24 hours if you want the colour to last a while, (they recommend 4-8 hours, but I don't think that is enough.)

It's a shame that you won't be able to just put this on before a night out, as it drys instantly. Yes instantly, no sticky mess at all, but it takes a while to develop properly, and if someone dropped a drink on you, it would go streaky, or if like my friend, it rained, you will get rain drop arms!

I feel very weird putting my legs on the internet, but this is what it looks like just applied, compared to my pale legs.

And in full works you can see it here:

Reading back through, I don't think I've done a very good job of selling it to you, but really, I love this product, and if like me, you find yourself tan challenged, check it out! I may becoming a tan-orexic (Essex here I come...as soon as I can master the false lashes!)

Have you tried this? What is your favourite fake tan?

Three Ways to Use: Soleil Tan De Chanel

If you read my post earlier in the week you will see that I've just started using this product more. When I first bought it, although I loved it, I kind of put it to the back of my collection as I wasn't 100% sure of a way to wear it. But now I've found three different ways to wear it and thought I'd share them with you. Obviously there are other ways and this isn't the law, but just ways I like to wear it.

First up brushes. Now I think the brush you use changes the way that this products works. The brushes chosen are the Elf Studio Powder Brush, my No.7 Kabuki Brush and the Real Techniques contour brush.

Before I show you the ways, I also thought it would be helpful to show you wear I apply it.

I do realise it look like I just put it all over my face, but I do just try to concentrate on the hollow of my cheeks, cheek bone, temples, nose and chin area.

Way One:

In this way, I like to take my Real Techniques Contour brush, or the Elf Brush, depending on my mood and how precise I want the look to be.
Before putting on foundation I place the product where I want the contour to be, the apply my foundation over the top. I find this works best when using my mineral powder foundation, rather than liquid.

(Just foundation and Chanel Bronzer.)

As you can see, the orange-ness has gone, and I am left with a nice contoured face.

Way Two:

For this I like to take my big Kabuki brush, which at the moment is from No.7 but I don't really like it as it's a bit rough, but can't justify buying another one at the moment, but it has completely ruined the look of my bronzer, sob!
Anyway, I take the brush and just basically fully take the bronzer all over my face, again before foundation. I find that a kabuki makes it a lot farther, and it is less of a precise look. I like to do this before a night out so I look more tanned, rather than for a contour. I usually use a powder bronzer for that.

Way Three:

At the moment this has been my favourite way to use it, and I have done so daily for a while now. Again, I take my Kabuki, but this time on top of foundation, and with a light hand for a bronzed glow to my usual look. I would say perfect for summer, but let's face it, I think summer has better things to be doing this year!

So it is now love with this product. I hope I have given you some new ways to use it if you have it.

How do you like to wear it?
