BB Cream Battle

Is anyone else getting slightly tired of hearing about BB Creams? This time last year I was completely clueless. I saw an advert for the Garnier one in about August, then kind of got into them. Now I'm very, well, over it. I was planning on buying some more BB Creams for this post, but honestly I just didn't see the point. I'm just not a BB girl. I can live with that. Therefore I only have three, but been as though these three have made up my mind on BB creams I thought I'd give you my opinion of them.

Also, as I tend to not wear them often, I started this post a while ago, so in the first two pictures my skin is quite bad, but it has cleared up in the last one which was taken last week. This impressed me to be honest, yes I'm impressed easily, but it shows some part of my skin care routine at least, must be working.

No 17

I used to use this daily instead of foundation. Then I didn't like the way it sat on my skin, it didn't last and overall I got fed up. It is probably the best out of all the ones I have. The colour suits me quite well, although it has a bit of a grey tinge on my skin. It gives a fair amount of coverage, and it lasts OK on my skin with powder, but there is something about it which stopped me reaching for it. And after using it for this post, I've put it back in it's draw and not touched it again. You know what they say, actions speak louder than words.

MUA

I don't want to dislike anything from MUA. They are such a good budget brand, but I just don't like this. The coverage is very little, and the colour is ok. But I could not use this for it's intended purpose. BUT I found a way to wear it that works for me, and that is as a primer/base. If you're having a very bad skin day, or need your make-up to last longer, use this as a base, and I promise you will be amazed by the result.

Garnier

The first BB cream I picked up. I really like it at first, and part of me still does, but it makes me look like I've just escaped from the Wonka Factory (I know it doesn't in this picture, but in person, trust me!) It has a gorgeous smell to it, is very creamy and does feel nice on the skin. Maybe, but only maybe, if they bought out other shades I may consider purchasing it, but again, there is something around it, which I understand that as a review on a blog post, is not entirely helpful, but still, there is something that makes me not like it.

Garnier // 17 // MUA

So they are my final thoughts on my BB Creams! I would love to know what you think, am I just being to persnickety? Do you love them? Do you hate them?

*first picture is no make-up, second is just the BB cream!

  1. I have the Garnier BB cream and I've read so many bad reviews on the shades. I'm Asian so I would normally go for the medium colour in a light/medium/dark range, but after reading these reviews I bought the light one instead and it's perfect for my skin! So if they bring out other shades, definitely go for one lighter than your skin :)

  2. I've only tried garnier and I've decided I don't like them, I'll stick to proper foundation! And I am also bored of hearing about them now haha xxxx

  3. I've only tried one which was Maybelline, I wasn't impressed with the coverage and was going to buy more but realised I probably wouldn't be impressed with any of them! Think I'll stick to foundations :) x

  4. I'm not fussed with BB creams but that just becasue i prefer something with a bit more coverage

and from what i can understand from other peoples blogs not all of these new BB creams are actuall BB creams in the same way that the Asian BB creams are.. they seem to be more of just a tinted moisturiser :(

    1. I know, they aren't actually doing anything to help with blemishes!

  6. I actually like the garner one, I don't think they are anything special but the garnier one is great for trips to morrisons or the gym on a really spotty day. Shame about the orange on you!

    1. I know, it doesn't show on here, but it really does, felt so self-conscious wearing it!

  7. I am slightly confused by the concept of a BB cream...to me, it seems like American BB creams and tinted moisturizer with added benefits, like anioxidants and sunscreen. I have the stila BB cream, and it is quite nice for smoothing the skin out and also as a primer. I would really liek to try a true asian BB cream to see what they are really supposed to be about! :)

  11. I do really like the Garnier BB cream - I always carry one with me in my bag as I think it's perfect for refreshing your makeup at the end of the day before going out if you don't have time to go home beforehand x

  12. I have to say I have only tried the Garnier one but I do actually really like it. I think it feels really refreshing when applied, it doesn't last that well though. I do think that this whole BB cream thing came over a bit too soon because, as a lot of people have said, the ones available over here are basically just tinted moisturisers without the skin benefits of an actual BB cream from elsewhere in the world. Hopefully we'll get some better ones soon though :)

  13. I'm a bit sick of them too to be home, I have a Garnier and a no 17 one, I'm REALLY pale and I find both of them really dark :( but 17 is the best, Garnier is much too dark! I barley wear them because I find them hard to blend... but from your post no 17 seems to blend the best and cover your skin well :)
I think I'm just gonna stick to my normal foundation :) I might do a post on one soon would you like to check it out if I do? Lovely post by the way :)

  14. I personally think UK BB Creams aren't great, they're just slapping the name 'Beauty Balm' onto tinted moisturisers with SPF. My favourite BB so far is Dr Jart+, slightly more expensive but it's an Asian born brand which has fantastic qualities to it! x
