Porefesional - Worth the Hype?

If you read my post yesterday, then you will know that, although I think the Porfessional from Benefit is good, it is just not worth the money. I also said that I found something that I think works just as well, and thought I'd share this post with you today, as I didn't really wear anything worth showing you this week, and many of you said that you would like to see this post.

Now, I don't know if this sounds stupid, now that I'm showing you, but I find this much more cost effective than the Porefessional, so thought what the heck!

At the same time as purchasing the Porefessional for my Worth the Hype post, I also bought the much spoke about Collection (2000) Lasting Perfection concealer. Now, for spots, this really did not blow me away at all, and I hated it for under the eyes. But I refused to give up on it. I remember reading or hearing somewhere, that is is great for filling in pores, so one morning, before applying foundation I patted it into the pores around my nose and it filled them perfectly.

Collection + Primer // Porefessional

I did this on top of concealer, then one morning thought, I wonder what would happen if I mixed the two together, and lo and behold, it made the same sort of paste as the Porefessional. It is slightly thicker, but the idea is still the same. I think any primer/concealer formula would work the same. I like mixing it on my hand and applying it with the Real Techniques (surprise, surprise) Foundation Brush from The Core Collection.

(These aren't the best pictures, but you get the idea. I couldn't find the right light to really capture it)

As you can see, the effect is pretty much identical, and this is a whole £10 cheaper.

So I'm not necessarily against the Porefessional, but just don't find it worth the money, and definitely think this is much better.

What do you think? Am I mental, or have I found a winner?

Laura xoxo

  1. Great review. You can really tell the difference in the two photos. I wanted to try the porefessional, but am just not willing to pay for what seems like a so-so product. Great that you can find the same effect for cheaper though xx

  3. Great review! I've recently seen quite a few negative reviews about this Benefit product, so I know not to buy it!

  4. You can tell a difference, I think :) Why spend so much money on one thing where cheaper ones will do just a good (if not better) job? xxxx

  5. I think Benefits products are kind of too expensive and if you can create the exact same effect and it is £10 cheaper it sounds a lot more appealing to me than the Benefit concealer! :)

  7. This is a good idea! I love porefessional, but the price tag puts me off repurchasing and I'm sure I'll be running low soon.
I don't think I've seen that Bourjois primer before, is it good?! x

    1. Thanks :)

Umm it's ok, their are probably better ones, but it is a good silicone one, it evens out pores, but don't know about making foundation last :)

  11. Such a great idea for an alternative! The Collection concealor is good for filling in pores :) I always find it goes a bit cakey and oily looking on my skin after a while though :(

  12. Great review. I have ti say that I am a Benefit junkie, but I wait until birthdays and Christmases and ask for their products as presents because of the high prices. However, GLAMOUR magazine will be giving out mini Benefit products next month, including Porefessional and That Gal!

  13. Great tips! I wasn't over whelmed by POREfessional either, I find Peter Thomas Roth has the best primer that kinda diffuses the look of pores and helps with greasy skin!

Love Collection 2000 concealer, must try it like this!
