Friday Fact: Wardrobe Sort

Turn your hangers the other way round.

I've recently been having a little clear out of my wardrobe and found that I really am a hoarder. I have so many clothes that I've picked up through various stages (uni, nights out, work wear...) and sizes of my life. Whilst many items either don't fit at the moment or don't fit into my current 'style' (not that I really have one) I still find it hard to part with some items.

So intaead of being ruthless and ending up in a state of regret, which I've done more than once, I've decided to follow a tip I've seen many times online.

After taking out all of my clothes, and having a sort through, when I put them back in I place the hangers the opposite way I usually put them in. Then, in the next six months I'll throw out anything that's still facing the wrong way, as it's obviously not a staple in my wardrobe.

Knowing me I'll see it as a challenge to wear everything so I can turn the hanger round and keep everything, but hey, at least that way I'm wearing everything.

Happy Friday :)

Current Cleaners

Due to the fact Caroline Hirons  says you should have more than one cleanser I normally have a few in rotation. The three here are my current go-to's that I'm really enjoying.

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser - I like to keep this cleanser in my shower and will use it when I'm in the shower. I do this with products that I like but don't use day in and day out. This is really thick and has a scent I'm not a fan of, but is really nourishing with also having exfoliating properties to it.

Ren Clear Calm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser - I love this cleanser. I think it's my third and I have another waiting and rearing to go when this runs out. It's great if you suffer with blemishes as it really clarifies whilst cleaning your face. LOVE THIS STUFF.

Origins Make A Difference Rejuvenating Cleansing Milk - This is my morning cleanser and sometimes I use it in the evening too. It's really gentle and nourishing whilst also contains ingredients that are aimed to fight blemishes. It's also handy for travelling as you don't need a cloth to wash it off, a damp cotton wool pad is great for taking the residue off but leaving the benefits of the cleanser on your skin.

Do you use any of these? What's your current cleanser?

Friday Fact

Rest your elbow on something steady when doing liquid liner.

Resting your elbow helps you create a smoother and straighter line.

Friday Fact

Wait for smudged mascara to dry before you try to remove it.

Whilst it's tempting to want to get rid of a smudge straight away, it'll move away quicker once it has dried.

Happy Friday!

Friday Fact

Don't pull your eye when applying liner!

Pulling at your eye when applying eyeliner means that your eye will be out of shape and when you let go, your shape won't be the way you want it!

Happy Friday :)

Friday Fact

Don't paint your nails straight after applying cuticle butter/oil to them.

I was surprised to read this a couple of weeks ago (I forget where) but, apparently is you apply polish straight after an oil or butter, it stops the nail varnish properly sticking to the nail, meaning it will come off quicker. Now I'm not a 100% sure how true it is, but when I thought about it, it kind of made sense. So save the moisturization till after you've finished painting.

Friday Fact

File your nails before you take your polish off.

Filing your nails after you've used nail varnish remover, or whilst they are wet will make them break easier. This is because when they are wet they become weaker and are more prone to damages. So filing them whilst they are hard with polish on makes them stronger, and allows them to take the harshness of a nail file.

Friday Fact

Smile when applying your lipstick.

Apparently smiling when applying your lipstick allows you to cover the whole of your lips. Since reading this tip I've been implementing it myself, as I previously, occasionally (a lot of the time) used to sport some lovely blank spaces in the corner of my mouth. Be careful though, too much pressure in the outer corner could result in a joker-esque look.

Happy Friday.

Friday Fact

Squeeze out the excess water from your hair before applying your conditioner.

By squeezing out the extra moisture it means that the conditioner will be able to fully sink into the hair, meaning that it will be more effective. Otherwise the water will dilute, meaning the conditioner will lose it's strength.

Friday Fact

When towel-drying your hair, squeeze it, instead of rubbing it!

Rubbing a towel over your hair to dry it causes the ends to split, which results in frizzier. By squeezing out the excess water instead it prevents the damage and results in hair being more manageable and smoother.

Happy Friday!

Friday Fact

I'm so glad people seem to like this feature. I'm aware that they are more tips than facts, but I'm a sucker for alliteration. Something had to come out of my English degree right? Anyway, today's fact.

Heat up your eyelash curler.

I remember reading this in a magazine years ago. Apparently by warming your eyelash curler by using a hairdryer or hot water (I recommend the first) it allows the curl it gives your lashes to hold for longer. Perfect.

Happy Friday!
