Top Moisturisers

I do love a good moisturiser! Each of these from my top three has a different purpose and I'm sharing them with you.

The Daily - My daily moisturiser is the Origins Gin-Zing. It's really light and refreshing and feels lovely on the skin.

The Evening - Another Origins product, and this one is great at rejuvenating my skin and when I wake my skin feels and looks so much better.

The Treatment - This Avene Cleanance K is perfect for clearing up blemish prone skin. If I'm having a breakout this clears it up in a matter of days. Make sure your face is fully dry before apply though as it stings like hell.

What is your favourite moisturiser?

Review: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

Ah, another product that has probable reached cult status among beauty bloggers. This powder is basically a powder and highlighter in one.

Whilst that description may sound scary, especially if you have oily skin like me. However, the sound of perfect looking skin that diffuses blemishes and gives a dewy look to your skin was enough to make me hunt it down.

So what do I think? This is a nice product, it sets my make-up beautifully, gives a dewy finish and makes me look very put together. BUT, I do think that for the price, it isn't really worth it. Personally, I would save your money and head over to Bourjois for their Healthy Balance powder (I'm yet to try the Java rice.)

What do you think?

Throwback Thursday: MAC All That Glitters

Ah this little golden sparkly eyeshadow was my go to shade around this time last year. It kind of reminds me of Christmas now. Whilst I am wearing eyeshadow a bit less at the moment (sleep always wins out) I pulled this out when filming a few videos a couple of weeks ago and fell back in love.

All that Glitters definitely has a lot of shimmer to it, as you would expect from its name and is very much of the gold variety.

What do you think of this eyeshadow?

Review: &other stories "Cire Red"

&OtherStories was one of the top places I wanted to visit when I went to London and it didn't disappoint. I could have spent hours in their make-up section alone. However I was god and only picked up a couple of things; this being one of them.

Colour wise this reminds me a lot of MAC's Frankly Scarlett which I had and then broke.

Whilst it looks quite daunting in the pan it gives a lovely flush to the cheeks.

Throwback Thursday: MAC Brick-o-la

Brick-o-la is a gorgeous lipstick that I often fail to reach for, why? I don't know.

A lighter version of my autumn fave Doubennet. It's a nice dark, almost red pink colour.

Quick and Easy Eyes

I'm sure I've mentioned it once or twice on ye olde blog, but in the morning sleep wins out over make-up every time. However, I still love looking nice-ish so these eye products are great for giving me more sleep & making me look presentable.

Rimmel Scandaleyes (Rich Russett) - This is a liquid paint that can look metalically but blended out gives a lovely look to the eye.
Maybelline Colour Tattoo (On & On Bronze - This cream eyeshadow is great to just wash over the eye as you little rub it on and it's done.

Max Factor Crayon - Due to its stick form this is probably the easiest to apply. Quickly rub it across the eye and your done.

Hey presto.

What are your favourite quick products?

Also, I am aware I go toward the same colours...

Review: Origins CC Cream

So a couple of weeks ago I found myself at an Origins stand whilst they were having a 10% discount going on, so OFCOURSE I had to take advantage and decided to try out the CC cream as I'd heard lots of people going on about it.

I was hoping that this product would be similar to that of Vita-zing but with a bit more coverage, and it kind of is, but it doesn't do the best job at covering up any blemishes.

It's a thick consistency but blends well, however I find it to feel too heavy on my skin.

What I do like about it is the fact it has tea-tree in it which I feel helps improve my skin as I wear it.

It doesn't have the longest time, and I do find it a bit drying, however it is still a nice product.

I don't think I'd repurchase it, and would definitely recommend Vita-zing over this CC.

Have you tried this? What do you think?

Review: Rimmel Scandal Eyes in Rich Russet

I'm sure this product has been on the majority of blogs but I still thought I'd give you my two cents. In case you weren't aware, this is basically a liquid eyeshadow that you paint onto your eyes!

It comes with a doe foot applicator which allows you to paint it onto the lids, however it's not the best for precision.

Applied thickly in can be bit metalically, but blended out it looks more natural and less OTT.

I much prefer the blended out look as I think it suits my lids better.

I do like this product, however I can find it to crease if I don't prime beforehand.

This product is great if you want to add some definition to lids with little effort!

Review: Chanel Creme Blush in Revelation

Ok, so who didn't swoon slightly at the sight when they heard about the new 'Le Blush Creme De Chanel'? I for one new exactly that one would be coming home with me as soon as. I had Boots points stored and I knew how I was going to use them. The problem was, which colour to choose?!

In the end I ended up going for the gorgeous slightly pinky peach colour Revelation (shock!)

At first I thought this colour may be a bit too pink for me, but when swatched it definitely has a slight peach undertone. Perfect!

These blushes are just the perfect balance of cream, but going to powder when placed onto the skin. You can build up or par down the colour to give you a density you prefer.

What I love about cream products is their function to work not only as a blush but also as a lip colour too. Although it is a bit drying! Plenty of balm at the ready!

It is safe to say that this blush and I have started a love affair and little else has graced my fair cheeks since!

The only question is, which shade do I choose next?

What do you think?

Review: Origins GinZing Moisturiser

Are you sick of hearing about this yet? No? Good!

It may come as no surprise but Origins is by far one of my favourite brands. I find their products to be some of the best and my skin seems to lap it up. When I heard about this beauty being released, and with a load of bloggers backing it, I couldn't wait to grab my hands on it. However, it was a tad difficult. Finally secured, I'm pleased to report, it's a good'un.

It has a really light weight consistency that just blends beautifully into the skin. Perfect for oily skinned girls! Even with the fine texture a little goes a long way, and I find that I'm using way less product daily then I am of my High Potency night moisturiser. It also has a delicious fresh orange smell, perfect for waking you up in the morning.

Now this would've been a complete rave review, until last week. Now last week we put the heating on at work, and I noticed by the afternoon my skin wasn't feeling as hydrated as it usually was. Nothing had changed, my water intake or skin care routine. So i guess this guy isn't going to be heavy enough to see me through a cold winter and indoor heating. Something you should consider if you have dry/dehydrated skin.

So whilst I do love this product, maybe it was just a summer romance! I guess only time will tell, but if you have really oily skin, or are looking for a lighter moisturiser, give this guy a go!

Have you tried this?

Friday Fact

Laughter is one of the best forms of medicine.

Not to get all mushy gushy on you, but sometimes it's a bit easy to get caught up doing solitary things (like blogging) and after a while you can start to get a bit glum. It's in time like this I like to grab my closest pals, or put on a funny DVD and just laugh. And sure enough I start to feel better.
Let's face it, who doesn't love a good giggle?

Happy Friday!

Throwback Thursday: Rimmel Lipstick in Rose Sorbet

I love the Rimmel Moisture Renew range, I really think they are some of the best lipsticks, and are a great price too. It was because of this I found myself picking up this shade in Rose Sorbet.

In the bullet it doesn't really look like a 'me' colour,  it looks really pinky and bright, but when swatched it isn't that bright.

On the lips it looks like a nice your lips but pinker colour and adds a nice pop of colour to the lips without being too OTT. For this reason I've found myself reaching for it, alot!

What do you think?

FOTD: Pull it together

Some days you just don't have the time to do a full on make-up look, but at the same time you still want to look put together. When I'm in this situation I like to reach for something easy to define and add colour to the eyes, and also add a pop of colour to the lips. Everything looks better with a lipstick!

For the base I kept it pretty simple, BB cream, concealer, powder and a bit of a contour.

For a quick wash of colour over the eyes I choose either a cream or liquid based product. Here it's Rimmel's liquid paint. Lashings of mascara always help too.

For lips I choose Rimmel's Rose Sorbet which has a great pink colour to it, but is also easy to apply.

What are your 'pull it together'  items?
