Review: Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage

Another London purchase, I think they should be dwindling now. Anyway, I'd heard a lot about this and was in a 'I haven't found anything to buy and want to spend my money' mood and decided to pick this up. Especially as my skin was breaking out something chronic.

This foundation is really think, and you're meant to mix the two shades together to create a bespoke shade, but I just mix them a bit slapdash in the morning and apply. I would say you make sure you have a hard brush to apply it with as a soft fluffly brush does not cut it.

As you can see it is pretty high coverage and it's thick without looking cakey. I'm definitely converted from liquid concealer.

I really like this product and would definitely recommend if you have the money to spend!

What do you think?

Review: &Other Stories Radiance Cream

First things first, a review post on a Saturday? If you read my blog a lot you may (your probably don't) notice that for a while I've been putting videos up on a Saturday but with work and stuff I don't have time to film and upload two videos a week anymore, so I'm now going to put up a review on a Saturday instead. As I still shop and have loads of products to share with you. Anyway, I doubt you care and onto the review.

When I was in London I got rather excited by &other stories, and this is one of the products I picked up.

This radiance cream is pretty much a champagne liquid highlighter which you can either apply straight to the skin or mix in with your foundation.

Here I applied it straight to my cheek after foundation.

I really like this highlighter as both a highlight and a dewifier for foundation. It is isn't in your face and is really subtle which I like for a nice day to day look.

What do you think of this product?

Friday Fact

Wait for smudged mascara to dry before clearing it up.

It's happened to the best of us, we're in a rush and mascara ends up in places it isn't wanted, BUT instead of cleaning it up straight away, which usually adds to more smudging, wait for it to dry first. For some reason once it's dry it is so much easier to wipe away.

Happy Friday!

Throwback Thursday: Cat Shoes

A bit of a random Throwback Thursday, but last year I saw these shoes on a blog, fell in love and the next day they were mine.

I'm not the biggest 'shoe' person, I'm more of a boots and sandals kind of girls, but I love these shoes so much.

P.S They're from Missguided but I don't know if they still do them.

The Purifiers

Being an oily skinned person means I am constantly looking for products that will unclog my pores and reduce the appearance of blemishes and scaring. I don't ask for much do I? Today I thought I'd share with you my top skin purifiers.

The Cleanser -  Ren's Clear Calm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser. I bought this due to Caroline Hirons saying how much she rated it. It's a clay based cleanser that aims to purify the skin and gently exfoliate at the same time. I like to use this as my morning cleanse as I feel it clears my skin for the day ahead whilst also mattifying my skin ready for make-up. This is my second tube!

The Overnight Treatment - Avene's Cleanance K. I picked a tube of this up last year as I wanted a cheaper alternative to Liquid Gold and I love it. I used it for two weeks straight and it really cleared up my skin. It's not only exfoliating but also hydrating and I wake up in the morning with a clear difference in my skin.

The Mask -  Ren's F10 Smooth and Renew Mask - I used to use the Glycolactic mask but didn't notice that much of a difference from using it, so bought this version as I heard some people prefer it, and it's cheaper. I find that this is a lot more gentle but gives a much smoother effect and works better at reducing scars than the radiance mask.

The Deep Clean - Una Brennan's Tea Flower Deep Clean Clay Mask - A good clay mask is great for digging deep into your pores and bringing all the dirt and grime out. You can really feel this mask work and your skin is left feeling extremely clean after using it. (Another, more pricier version of this worth checking out is this one by Elemental Herbology.)

The Manual Exfoliater - Emma Haride Rose-hip Seeds - I know a lot of people have realsied that manual exfoliation should be shied away from and go towards acid exfoliation, but I just love a good manual exfoliation from time to time. If you leave these on for about five minutes then wash off your face is left feeling smooth and soft and scaring is reduced too.

What are your purifying faves?

Review: Max Factor Smoky Eye Effect Eyeshadow

Since starting work I'm all for anything that can be put on quickly (I love sleep) so picked up this little stick to try and make that process easier.

You get a nice bronze shade as well as a light shimmery shade.

Together they create a really nice look that's simple and easy to create. Whilst it looks nice and seems like the perfect product, it creases like a mother. Even with a primer.

So if creasing doesn't occur with you, I'd definitely say go for it, but if your lids are like oils slicks like mine, I'd stay steer clear.

Throwback Thursday: Powersurge Eyeliner

This is defintiely my 'summer' eyeline as it is the perfect bronze shade. After a serious hunt to get it, I finally got my hands on it last year, however I don't find myself reaching for it as much, mainly as I prefer a more natural 'bright' eye. Plus I rarely go on nights out anymore, which is where I used to wear it due to it adding something extra to a smokey eye without closing my eyes too much.

I do love whacking it all the lids a nice colour to the lids as it's so simple but adds something special to a look.

New Make-up?

So a couple of weeks ago I was asked if I wanted to host the chance to give you, my lovely readers. the chance of winning £40 worth of Feel Unique vouchers, and I decided to say yes. I never really do things like this, as much as I love my blog it's a hobby and I don't feel the need to do giveaways, but I thought a chance like this would be a great way to say thank you, and plus it gives you the chance to get some new make-up.

The company hosting the giveaway is called ao and whilst they aren't in the beauty world. they believe happiness is spread through giveaways they are giving me the chance to host this one The gave me no rules to this, but all I'm going to ask is that you be a follower of this blog either through bloglovin or GFC. There are extra options on the form if you fancy your chances, but you don't have to.

a Rafflecopter giveaway
I will have to give your name and email address to ao, and they will contact you with the voucher, so you've got to be ok with that. Aside from that, good luck :) (and thank you for reading my blog)

Review: CND Sticky Base Coat

I love having painted nails, but hate having chipped ones and hate having to re-apply. It really is a love/hate relationship. So when I heard about a nail varnish that's meant to make your nail colour last, I jumped at the chance. The real question is though, does it really work?

Just applied//Four days later

Four days later without CND

So as you can see, it hasn't really made that much of a difference. Whilst it is a nice base coat, I doubt I'll be getting it again. Especially as it's quite difficult to get a hold of.

What do you think of this? Have you tried it?

Friday Fact

What works for others, won't always work for you.

This is kinda linked to last weeks post, but just because people blog about something, and it looks amazing on them, it doesn't necessarily mean it will work for you. Everybody's different. I have a lot of products that I've bought due to them looking good on others, but look crap on me.

Happy Friday :)

Throwback Thursday: Bare Minerals Original Foundation

Over the last few months I've completely forgone foundation in favour of BB creams, however before I made the switch, this was definitely one of my faves. When someone asked me my opinion on it, I grabbed it out and reacquainted myself with it.

It's definitely a light coverage, but I'm perfectly happy with that. Even though it's a powder foundation it blends in really well, doesn't look cakey, and to be honest, could do with some powder half way through the day.

Whilst I'm still on my BB craze, (it's so much quicker to apply) I still have a place in my heart for this foundation.

Storage Solutions

From blogging my make-up collection has gone from quite modest to well... yeah. Over the last year or so I've found new and different ways to store all the products I have, and thought I'd share some of my faves with you today.

Mugs are great for storing lipsticks, pencils, mascaras, concealers etc...

Old candle holders and tea/coffee canisters are great for holding brushes.

A basket for everyday products helps me switch up what I use and keep things on rotation, and an old plant pot is great for storing cotton pads.

Never dismiss a shower caddy for some skincare storage. Just make sure you secure it properly. Skincare can be heavy. (This has dropped twice!!!)

What are your favourite ways to store things?

Review: Max Factor Eye Crayons

And my obsession with make-up on crayon form continues. I was walking across the Max Factor stand and these caught my eye and I just had to get them!

First up is the bronze shade. This is definitely the most wearable out of the two, and the one I wear more!

The grey one is slightly harder to wear and creases easier. I think it definitely takes more thought to wear too.

Overall I do like these, I could live without them, but I am finding myself wearing the gold one quite alot.

Do you have these? What do you think?

Friday Fact

You don't have to buy every hyped product.

As a blogger it's very easy to purchase a product that a lot of people are talking about. I have drawers of make-up that can testify to this. But something worth mentioning is that just because everyone is talking about something, doesn't mean it's going to work for you. Honestly, I think it's cool finding the products that not everyone's talking about. Sometimes it's better to be a Shepard than a sheep.

Happy Friday :)

Throwback Thursday: The Archives #3

Remember when I had a fringe? And shorter hair? To be honest I'm thinking of getting this length hair again, but probs not the fringe. This post is how I styled my hair at the time.

Oh the day's where I tried to re-create celebrity looks. This post is me trying to be Kylie Jenner.

I have a feeling this blush may get it's own post on Throwback Thursday soon as I can't remeber the last time I used it (bad Laura.) Here is the full review.
