Fashion Friday: University Series

As I'm doing my superficial University Series, I thought I'd continue with what I typically wear on to Uni. Now I would class myself as casual, not completely jeans and a hoodie, but not over dressed, which is how I feel most comfortable.  Here are a few items I would class as 'essentials.'

Most of us go back to school/uni in the Autumn, and in England this means rain, wind and well miserable ness. My vocabulary is so good.... Anyway, I used to walk to uni and these boots have seen me pretty well. They keep my legs warm as it also means I have socks on, and I think riding style boots look cute, but of course you can wear uggs, or anything type of boots. But I find they are more durable than ballet flats.

I live in leggings. I find them so comfy and cosy, and so much easier to wear than jeans, which is what you need when sitting in lectures for hours.

Can you see a pattern here, comfort first. I love big slouchy tops to just snuggle into and feel cosy in, whilst watching the rain pour down the window, and listening to your lecturer of course.

Again, Autumn and Winter are cold, plus it makes a pretty snuggly pillow for when your hungover and bored, but obviously that never happens to me....

Here is a selection of outfits of my uni outfits from my What I Wore Today posts. This is more springy clothes, but still gives you an idea!

Hope this has been slightly helpful.

Happy Friday :)

August Favourites

I think the end of August is one of the saddest times of the year. It means the start of going back to school/work, and the end of the little summer that we had!! Not cool. But obviously I need to power through, and here are my monthly favourites for you.

I know, I know, two cleansers, but I got both of these this month, and love them both.

I really love the Hot Cloth Clenser in the morning, I feel like it really wakes my face up and throughly cleans my face.

The Murad cleanser is such a refreshing wash to use, and I like that is has an enviromental shield, I feel like its doing good whilst it is on, which is ridiculous, but still.

I do love this little brush. I bought it when shopping with Rach and Shen at the start of the month, which feels like years ago. I love how well this puts colour in the crease and corner of your eye.

You can tell how much I've used this blush since on holiday as the crown is starting to wear. Santa Rose, is the most gorgeous natural cheek colour. I really love it.

Again I got this at the start of the month, after seeing The Woman in MAC wearing it. It is ofcourse Mulch, and I've worn it a hell of a lot this month. I think it is just soo pretty.

A few extra favourites:

I have to give another shout out to Shen and Rach, as they have honestly become really good friends to me, and I can't wait for our next shopping trip.

What have been your favourites this month?

A Little TLC: Hair

I don't really do a lot to my hair, but I realise  my hair does need some looking after, so these are the products I like to 'treat' my hair to!

The night before I wash my hair, (not every time, just when I want to treat my hair,) I apply a mixture of these two products. They are both used as hair masks and make my hair so soft and nourished.

Then in the morning, I wash it all out, using the Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two, as it really gets rid of anything in the hair and stops it getting greasy. Then on the ends I apply the Aussie Three Minute Miracle Conditioner.

Then after my shower I like to spray some Leave in Conditioner and take my Tangle Teezer through it. I really recommend a Tangle Teezer, my hair splits a lot less since using it.

So they are the simple things I do to try and help my locks.

What do you do? Any miracle products?

University Series: Make-up

For this post in my University Series I am going to show you the kind of make-up I wear to uni, as I think that this is an important factor to consider (in a superficial kind of way.) It needs to be a look you feel confident in, I know that if I have nice make-up on, then I feel way more confident in answering questions and the like, especially as part of my grade is class participation, but it also needs to be make-up you can do in a hurry after not getting much sleep (and with a hangover,) so here is what I've created.

Base:
Loreal Lumi Magique Primer - to highlight, and add some glow to the face, and stop it looking tired
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch & Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealers
Loreal True Match Powder - make it last all day.

Eyes:
Stila Nautral Eyes Palette - Bare//Sandstone//Ebony
I think that the Stila Palette is one of the best things to get for uni, as you can create both day and evening looks.
Max Factor High Definition Mascara
Gosh Liner in 015 Pure Natural - Making your eyes look awake, and eradicate redness
Max Factor Brow Pencil
If you can get away with natural brows, do, but if you need a little something, a natural shade following natural eyes would be best.

Face:
Rimmel Blush in Santa Rose -
An easy to use blush that can't be over done, and doesn't need much thinking is perfect when you're in a rush.

Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie -
A simple neutral colour which is easy to use.

I think it's really important to leave anything you take your time over out of it, as those are the things that can go wrong if not done right, and you may end up feeling uncomfortable all day. Similarly, if you don't wear bright lips, or winged liner regularly, don't start just for lectures, as again you may end up feeling uncomfortable.

To show how this is more of an enhancing your natural look, kind of make-up, I've done a before and after shot so you can compare.

So I hope this has helped in some way. This is just how I always feel like I should dress at uni, especially after a few make-up mishaps. But if your statement look is liquid liner do it, you should always be showing yourself, and this is just me, and how I feel comfortable.

What sort of looks do you wear to uni?

FOTN: The Theatre

As I mentioned yesterday, and on Twitter, I was lucky enough to see Dirty Dancing on Saturday, live on stage, and it was incredible. I had a grin from ear to ear the whole time. I love the theater anyway, and Dirty Dancing is one of my favourite films, so it was really the perfect combination. So being the true narcissistic blogger that I am, I documented my make-up for you, as I rather liked it, so I'm going to share.

Base:
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light
Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer

Eyes:
Sleek Brow Kit
Bare // Sandstone // Bliss from Stila Natural Eyes Palette
Mulch from MAC (under the eye)
MAC Powersurge
Loreal Super Liner
Max Factor False Lash Effect

Face:
Hoola Bronzer
Rimmel Santa Rose Blusher
Dior Amber Diamond

Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart

Whilst at the theatre I noticed a huge range of how people dressed with some in cocktail dresses all dolled up, and some people in jeans and hoodies, so I was wondering, what do you do? Go all out, happy medium, or just plain jane?

Also, if you're in the UK, happy bank holiday!

What I Wore this Week

This week has seemed very quiet compared to the last few weeks. I said goodbye to my grandparents, which was rather emotional, met up with friends, and last night I went and watched Dirty Dancing, which was just amazingly brilliant.Such a good night.

I know I said I'd include last Sunday in this post, but I was a bit too delicate to remember to snap a pic ha, but I have included my Saturday night outfit, which for some reason wouldn't go into my collage ha!

Saturday: Top: New Look // Skirt: Topshop // Shoes: Zara // Clutch: Dorothy Perkins

Monday: Day: Top and Boots : New Look
Night: Top: Dorothy Perkins // Shoes: River Island
On Monday I went for a stroll round the park with my nan in the daytime and then in the evening it was my grandparents leaving meal.

Tuesday: Top: H&M // Skirt and Shoes: Topshop
I spent the day Tuesday doing nothing really, not getting dressed until I was supposed to me meeting friends for dinner, and this is what I decided to wear.

Wednesday & Thursday : Top: George at Asda // Joggers: New Look
Not a lot happened on both of those days, hence the rather casual attire.

Friday: One: Cardigan: Ralph Lauren // Top: New Look // Shoes: Topshop
Two: Cardigan: Primark // Scarf: New Look
In the morning Friday I went and did my volunteering at the library, and in the afternoon met a friend in town for a Costa! Hence why I got changed.

Saturday: Day: Hoodie: New Look // Sandals: George at Asda
Night: Top: Dorothy Perkins // Boots: New Look
In the day I went and visited my nan, then in the evening I went to see Dirty Dancing, which was just incredible!!!!

Today, my fried is coming over and we're just going to watch some films and chill, ahh bliss.

Hope you have a lovely week :)

Hair How To: A Little Up Do

If you saw my holiday make-up post, you will see that I wore my hair up a few times, which for me is quite strange. I see my hair as a comfort barrier, and wearing it up is something I don't do often, unless it is a messy bun. So I thought I would share with you the way I wore it, as it is super easy, but looks rather fancy, if I do say so myself.

I don't know why I felt the need to pull a stupid face!

To see how I do this, see this post.

And voila! Super easy and simple, and each time it looks slightly different, but I really like it.

I'm also on the look out for some other up do hair looks, so if you have any, please send them my way!

Do you like wearing your hair up or down?

Fashion Friday: A Few of my Favourite Things

In case the title of this post didn't give it away, today's Fashion Friday is about the items I am loving at the moment. It is sort of my take on the Most Worn Tag going around on Youtube.

I would never have gotten these Zara heels if I hadn't started blogging, and I love them. I get so many compliments on them, and they are surprisingly comfortable. I think I paid £30 for them, and I've definitely got my moneys worth on them. I plan my outfits around them now too. It is love.

I feel a bit bad putting this in here, as you can't get it in the UK, but I picked it up last year whilst I was in New Zealand, and I love it. I've worn it quite a lot, especially this summer. I like that you can dress it down for dinner, or up for a night out. The colour is also something that made me gravitate towards it.

If you read my What I Wore this Week Posts you will know that I have worn this scarf to death. I just think it is the perfect summer scarf. It is so bright and colourful and really brightens any outfit.

I got this dress last year and never wore it, but I re-found it this year, and I love it. I really love the cardigan with it too. Both have become really big favourites of mine, well duh, otherwise they wouldn't be in this post, but you know what I mean. I love the bat wing on the cardigan, and the soft-ness of the dress, and think the colours work so well together.

I've already done a post on this wonderful George at Asda skirt. I still luuurve it!

What have been your favourite things? Have you done a post like this? I would love to see it.

Happy Friday,

Laura xoxo

P.S Sorry for the shoddy photography, the cutting the head out of my photos, and the reflective glare of my glasses. I'm learning.
