Everyday Hair

So I was randomly looking through older blog posts of mine, and gosh, was it an experience. I feel personally that I have really grown from my first few posts and have decided to kind of re-do one today. This is the review on my Babyliss Waving Wand, mixed in with an everyday hair thing. (Ok, maybe I haven't improved that much!)

So I usually sleep with my hair wrapped in a top knot and secured with a big banana grip. Sometimes this alone will give me nice volume and curls, but sometimes it kind of ends up like....

....this. A big poofy mess in need of some TLC.

(please excuse the I'm sucking a very sour lemon whilst also patronizing you, face I have pulled here!)

I next add some Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo on my roots to freshen my hair and make sure it doesn't look greasy, 'cause that ain't a good look! (In my opinion.)

I then comb through with my loved Tangle Teezer so my hair isn't quite so 'out there.'

Next I spray my hair with some heat protectant which is so necessary with my damaged hair. This Aussie one isn't meant to be used on dry hair, but I'm a rebel and it smells too good not to use!

I then use my Waving Wand from Babyliss and wave the ends of my hair. I usually hold it for around 5 seconds with it being on the highest heat.

It should then look something like this! You can obviously make it more wavy if you want, this is just how I prefer it.

I then take my VO5 give me texture spray to kind of mess it up a bit and make it look more natural!

Then voila! Final finished, messy/wavy/bedhead look that I tend to rock a day to day basis.

I hope this has kind of been helpful, and is an improvement on my first Waving Wand Review. I think I may do another my favourite hair care products post too soon as this post is long enough without it.

What is your everyday hair style?

April Favourites

I swear, I and everyone else who writes these posts say this everytime, but where has this month gone? I can't believe this time next week I will only have one essay left to hand in a be free for summer (yes be jealous, it's ok! Tbh I'll probably be bored within a couple of weeks months!)

Anyway, here are the products I've been loving this month:

Elf Powder Brush: I got this brush half way through April , and it is brilliant for contouring. It fits perfectly in the hollows of your cheek, and works well with cream and powder bronzers. I really love it. It adds colour whilst blending too so I'm not left with obvious lines on my face with minimal work!

MAC - Mineralize Blush - Lovejoy: I think this product is amazing, it is a blush, contour and highlight all in one! I love it, it's so quick and easy to use, it's perfect. Full review here!

Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy - I used to use this all of time, and re-found it and fell back in love with it, it's a lovely sweet smelling perfume and always gets me lots of compliments when I wear it, so it must be a winner right?

Boots Botanics Eye Make-up Remover - I love, love, love, I think it's the best eye make-up remover I've ever used, super easy, non-irritating, all round good egg. Full review coming soon!

Moroccan Oil - Now I've featured this in a favourites, I think my first one, but I kind of stopped using it after watching Gemma's video on how it doesn't actually have any benefits to your hair, so instead used a John Frieda version, as it was cheaper. However I used this for a night out, and oh my goodness, my hair felt amazing, so I don't care if it isn't actually doing anything for my hair, I'm re-purchasing this little guy when I finish the John Frieda Serum

Five Favourite Blog Posts:

I love Anna and her blog, she writes in such a down to earth friendly way, that you kind of wish she could be your best friend. Her post about How To Start A Beauty Blog was super informative and definitely worth a read!

I absoultely love Estee, especially her youtube channel, she is one of those people that when you see a video pop up, you get excited. Now although this was posted last month, I love this post and video combo on how she does her eye-brows! I suck at doing mine, and this was so helpful.

Temp Sec is a blog that I just love to look at, (in a non creepy way) the pictures are always so beautiful, as are what is being featured. This outfit post had me in awe, it's just so pretty.

If you're looking for a new rosy blush, then check out this post written by the lovely Sleep and Water. Also whilst you are there, check out her beautiful writing and photography style.

I found Laura through a #bbloggers chat and really loved her style. This post in particular held my attention, I don't know many people who could pull this off as beautifully as she does.

--- So I was going to leave it at 5, but you have to check out Sian's Effie Trinket post - amazing!

So that's the end of my favourites for this month! What were your favourites this month?

Fashion Friday - Spring Cardigan

Cardigan - Topshop
Vest - New Look
Vest - H&M
Leggings - Topshop
Shoes - F&F @ Tesco

I got this beaut of a cardigan off of my besties for my birthday last year, as I saw it, fell in love then looked at the price tag (damn you Topshop.) It is the perfect cardigan for spring and summer, it's light yet heavy, super comfy and airy with being warm.

I love the colours, the pattern, the detail and the fabric. Basically I love it, and am begging the sunshine to come back so that I can wear it more!

What's your favourite Spring item?

MAC - Frankly Scarlett

This is a blush that I see Tanya Burr mention quite a lot in videos and it has always intrigued me, so when I went shopping with Rachel (I bought a few things as you can see!) I decided to pick it up and see what the fuss was about, and I'm so glad I did.

In the pan this looks like the scariest colour ever, I was so scared I was going to end up looking like a clown, and the first time I used it, I really did. I was determined not to give up, I would get the just pinched look of Tanya, and I think I've got the hang of it now, and I love the colour it gives.

I just lightly dab my brush in it, tap it off, rub it on my hand, then gently sweep onto my cheeks, and voila! Just pinched cheeks!

So what do you think? Will you be trying this blush?

Benefit - Tan About Town

***Bargain Alert***

I was in my local Boots, as I usually spend most of my time there apparently, and was at the till to pay, I only had two bottles of Pepsi Max in my hand and an Eat Natural bar (I love those!) and saw this little package for a mere £9, so into my hand it came, and it followed me all the way home. (I did buy it, just to clarify!)

This is how it was lovingly packaged! I love it when things are organised like this, it pleases my OCD mind!

So inside this little kit contains, a Bad Gal Mascara, Hoola, and some foundation which I don't really get. But I think it's still worth it for the Bad Gal and Hoola.

Foundation type thing. I think it's a bit too dark for me, but going to look into in summer.

I think this mascara is really good. I think it's just as good as my favourite mascara (Max Factor High Definition) but the price difference will be having me going back to Max Factor, but if you've got the cash to splash, go for it!

I really, really like this. I think it is a really good contour shade, it's slightly orange in this picture, but it looks so good in real life (if I do say so myself.) I really want to get this now. (Can you hear my purse screaming? Step away from the Benefit counter)

Also I feel like I should say, I love the size of this. I think that high end companies should sell their products for cheaper and this size, as some times, we are never going to finish the big packages they get, and we will be able to buy and try more. Maybe one day?

So this is my face of Benefit, I also have a the new Hello Oxygen foundation (review to come) on and my Hervana blusher.

What do you think of this pack? Bargain, or not bothered?

Barry M Touch of Magic Lip Paint

So when I was out shopping with the lovely Rachel, we were kinda drawn to this product, I mean really, who would wear green lipstick? Thinking it was kind of a joke we swatched it on our arms, and oh my goodness, we were amazed!

It turns out that this lipstick is magic. Although it has a lovely Wicked green colour in the bullet, it is actually a pink colour! Cue amazed gasps from the both of us and me bouncing up to the till with it.

So what do you think? Do you think it's the best thing since sliced bread?

Also I've never owned a Barry M Lip paint before, but are they all really long wearing? This lasted for around 5 hours, with eating and drinking. Amazed!

Laura xoxo

***BREAKING NEWS***

Sorry if you thought you'd gotten rid of me for today, you haven't. If you have been reading my blog for a while, or in general, you will know I moan talk quite a lot about finding the perfect foundation, and thought I had with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, but was left dissapointed. Well, I took all of your advice on board, and tried experimenting with it, and well. I think I've found a way to wear it that I LOVE.

I just mix it equal parts with the Loreal Lumi Macique Base primer type thing, and it adds a nice dewy soft finish to the foundation.
Gone is the tackniess, the collecting in random places, hello perfect foundation. I think I may even re-purchase both!

So I thought I just had to share it with you, and thought you may get annoyed with another long post today, but I couldn't contain my excitement!

Anyway, you can click off the page now, maybe leave a comment first though, 'cause I love those :)

Celebrity Inspired - Taylor Swift

I absolutely love Taylor Swift, I think her music is great and she handles herself so well. I was reading some blogs, as you do, and saw a picture of her at the ACM Awards, and fell in love with her make-up so I decided to do my own version for today's Celebrity Inspired look!

This looks is all about the bronze smokey golden eye, and neutral face. This week I've decided to do a step-by-step guide to the eyes and would love to know if you find it useful:

1) I used Front Cover's Baked Bronze all across the lid with a No.7 Colour Brush.

2) I then used a models own angled brush and ran it underneath my lower lash line.

3) I then used Toasted Almond by Front Cover, first with a Japonesque crease brush in the crease (surprise, surprise!) then blended slightly with a No.17 blending brush.

4) Then with my Loreal Super Liner, I lined my upper lash line

5) I then used a Real Techniques detailer brush with Maybelline's On and on Bronze Color Tattoo under the  lower lash line, and into the tear duct area.

I then finished with Mascara and a neutral eyeliner! If you want the full Taylor look, add some awesome falsies too!

Base
Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam - Review
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer - Belmishes
Soap and Glory Trick and Treatment Concealer - Under Eye
Loreal True Match Powder

Eyes
Front Cover - Baked Bronze and Frosted Almond - Review
Maybelline Color Tattoo - On and On Bronze
Maybelline - One by One Mascara
Gosh 015 Eyeliner
Loreal Super Liner

Face
Bourjouis Bronzer
No.7 Honey Blusher - Review

Lips
No.17 High Shine Lipgloss - Whisper

So I hope you liked this look. What do you think of Taylor's look?

Also Happy St. George's day to all that celebrate!

Laura xoxo

P.s I've joined another blog hop, and you can join here!

*I just feel like I need to mention, I am not a MUA, I just like messing around, and the ideas were just inspired by Taylor's look, but I would love to know what you think :)

What I wore This Week

Hello, I hope you all had a lovely week, although this weather is so depressing right now (such a British thing to comment on, but it really does suck.) This week was my first week back at uni, so nothing exciting really.

Monday:
Top: Forever 21 // Vest: H&M // Leggings: Topshop // Jacket: Miss Selfridge // Shoes: New Look
On Monday I had a 9am lecture (oh how I hadn't missed them!) Then spent the afternoon with my little brother as  he had a teacher day!

Tuesday:
Top, Vest : H&M // Leggings: Topshop // Boots: Primark // Jacket: Miss Selfridge
I was meant to hace a 9.30 am lecture on Tuesday, but sat in traffic for 2 and a half hours instead and missed it. I would've been annoyed, but I find it hard to be mad at traffics due to accidents as I just think of the poor people in the accident. I hope they're ok! I just attempted to do work in the afternoon.

Wednesday:
Top, Boots : New Look // Vest, Scarf: H&M // Leggings: Topshop // Jacket: Miss Selfridge
I had an interview about my Volunteering (at a library, nothing exciting) and did a wee bit of shopping on Wednesday!

Thursday:
Leavers Hoodie // Vest, Leggings, Boots as before
Thursday is my day off, and I completed (YES) one of my essays and did some taxiing for family!

Friday:
Cardigan, Top, Vest: H&M // Scarf: Market // Boots: New Look // Leggings: Topshop
Friday is another lecture day, and because it's at one, it pretty much takes up my day with the driving there and back!

Satuday:
First outfit: Top: New Look // Vest, Cardigan: H&M // Leggings: Topshop // Shoes: George at Asda
Second Outfit: Top, Vest: H&M // Leggings: Topshop // Boots: New Look // Necklace: George at Asda
In the morning I went to visit my Nan and Grandad, then I did some blogging, and in the evening I went for a lovely meal with my two best friends as they still haven't gone back to uni yet :)

Sunday:
Top, Leggings: Topshop // Vest: H&M // Shoes: Primark
So today I went shopping with my dad and Grandma this morning. Sainsbury's had some great offers on skin care, I was tempted to buy it all, but left with only vaseline (are you as proud as me?) I now plan to clean my room and catch up on some blogs :)

Hope you all have a great Sunday, and lovely week :)

Worth the Hype?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has bought something due to the fact that the world and it's wife has blogged about. It's like when at school it was cool to collect Pokemon cards, or put balls of gloop in your airing cupboard to make it have 'babies' (I'm talking about those Aliens, you know what I mean, right?) Anyway, we are all dragged in by hypes, and sometimes I question are they really worth it?

So in this post I've picked some of the items I bought due to the hype online, and will give my opinion of whether  I  think they're worth the hype!

Maybelline Color Tatoos

Simply put, yes! I think these little beauties are amazing. I think the On and On Bronze (right) is better, as it has a creamier formula and lasts much longer, but overall, these are definitely worth all the hype. Best bit, they're only a fiver! More shades please Maybelline!

MAC Painterly Paint Pot

When I first started watching Youtube Videos every other one contained this product. Seriously, it seemed like a holy grail item. When shopping I got it without even swatching it as there was not tester out, got it home and was a bit like, this is it? It's very concealer based colour, and I was just a bit like, what is the point? However I think the fact that I have worn it pretty much daily since I bought it, speaks for itself. I think I may need to try other colours too? Yes I hear you say, that's what I thought!

Revlon Lip Butters

I'm sure you are all sick to death hearing about these. When I first swatched them, I hated them. They were sticky and just not what I expected. I then swatched them again, and actually found this colour to work quite well, so I got it (mainly for this post! Or so I tell myself) I do get why everyone loves them so much, but to be honest they hype is so huge, that it really just did not live up to it for me. So it's a no from me. The Loreal version on the other hand....

O.P.I Nail Envy

Firstly I did not pay £18 for this. I snatched it up on Buyapowa, and oh my goodness, when I do run out, I think the £18 will be spent. I love it. My nails have never felt or looked better, gone is the flaky, breaky nails, hello strong new ones. It crops up quite regularly on Buyapowa too, so keep an eye out for it!1 Definitely worth the hype. Your nails will love you.

Chanel Bronze Universal

I've been wanting this for a while, and got a gift card for Boots for Easter, and thought, why not? I've got to say, I think the price tag, is very high for what it is, but it is also the only cream bronzer I can think of on the market. It really does add that something special to your make-up, but I also think you could live without it. I'm really split on this item, I think if you have the money, great, get it, but if you don't there are better things to spend your money on!

And finally, a little extra:

I absolutely love these books, especially the second and recommend them to anyone. I honestly thought I wouldn't like this, but I am yet to find someone who does not like these. The film is extremely good too!

I hope this post has come in slightly useful, I think I'm going to do another one at some point in the future so keep a look out!

Have you tried any of these? Do you think they're worth the hype?

Laura xoxo
